The issue as I see it is what A&M is doing isn't NIL. It's good ole fashion pay for play. Which is fine, it's been going on since the sport began but LSU is spinning their wheels with this above the board shite.

In essence, aTm isn't paying, but I would bet they have cooordinated with boosters and others affiliated with the program on how to "enhance" their recruiting classes. It's plausible deniability. In the end, it boils down to exactly what it is, paying to play.

The big NIL deals for football and major recruits are not little bullshite deals. MatchPoint handle little bullshite deals for athletes nobody knows such as gymnastics and tennis.
NIL is evolving so fast Matchpoint seems to be a relic in just 6 months

If Louisiana has proven a thing it is our ability to do stupid shite with our money. We should be great at the NIL game

How you have less than 100 people. But hundreds of businesses representing?

The pre event was less than a 100 people with the coaches. The panel event was many more.

I'm really just not understanding how A&M is pulling it off. I understand the deep pockets, but I don't understand how the pockets are emptying without anything in return. You'd have to be an idiot just to hand over a bunch of money to a teenager simply to wear your team's uniform for maybe 1 year. NIL was meant for kids to get paid for companies using their name, image, and likeness...which would be mutually beneficial. At this point, it is nothing like that. Not my money, though.
You can’t underestimate how desperate these nerds are to be relevant. A neighbor of mine that comes from a family of Aggies was telling me his old man was approached by multiple groups to donate in the past few months, and that it’s crazy how big of an operation it’s turned into for them.
They want so bad to be nationally relevant, have hundreds of ultra wealthy oil guys, and beyond that have legions of upper middle class and middle class types in Houston/Dallas/etc. that stay connected with each other and are willing to shell out cash.
And the program seems to have been already humming along reasonably well (by their standards) since Jimbo has been there for a few years now, so that has helped them get a good head start.
But they’ll continue to go 8-4.

Good guys...and there are many others in SBR alone with deeper resources.

Fans want to see their team compete and win. It's not that hard to understand.
People need to get the "return for investment" out of their head. It's not about pimping a product. It's about putting the best players on the field, no matter what the NCAA says.
