quote:Not saying there was anything wrong at all. Just saying that we have a redshirt year to try him at QB before he possibly gets moved. We didn't have that with Shep.
shep was used correctly last year. he was recruited as a qb and the only way he was coming to LSU was if he had a shot at qb. we gave him his shot like we promised him. nothing wrong with how that was handled.

I have too and I can't disagree more. He just needs to be developed there. He isn't a freshman starter in the SEC but with a couple years work could become a really good SEC QB.
He went 153/257, 1723 yards, 14 TD, 4 INT throwing last year and had 109 carries for 710 yards and 10 TD rushing.
And Spencer Ware went 134/236, 2000 yards, 13 TD, 3 INT throwing and had 750 yards and 15 TD rushing.
We'll just agree to disagree. And perhaps Uzomah will become a great QB for us in the future. From what I have seen, however, I doubt it. Tremendous athlete though, and I would love for him to be at LSU.

And Spencer Ware is 6-7" shorter than Uzomah and played much weaker competition.

LSU is insane if they take Uzomah as a QB.
Totally insane.
Agreed. Saw him play in a playoff loss this past fall; he's not a college QB.

If anyone saw Miles speak at media day he went into great depth about how he gave RS a shot at QB, but that he would have seen the field more and contributed much sooner had he started with the WR's. I kind of got the feeling he may have been directing those comments to a guy like Uzomah. Hopefully he can learn something from RS's very similar situation.

LSU is loading up on tweeners in this class. That is both good and bad. Get them on campus and then decide where to put them. Only a few guys we have right now committed are definite locks for projected positions. Most of the guys we're recruiting are tweeners too. Even the DBs LSU is going for are bigger guys with speed, so they could possibly slide to either S or CB.
I predict this class will have a lot of busts, more than normal. But the reward will be high.

I went to North Gwinnett and saw him play on a regular basis, I knew of the hype before seeing him play and he doesnt meet it not even close. He isnt a QB maybe a TE but not a QB, he isnt accurate and he is the opposite of clutch. I think Matt Jones might be the best comparison to him

crowton didnt develop guys who were more polished than him coming out of higschool..so god knows he wouldnt do shite with this kid

He's a pretty good QB for NGHS. He showed this summer he can definitely be developed as a QB, he's just a project there at this point. He was accurate this past year at QB and this summer, so I don't know where that comment came from. And how is he not clutch? He lost 1 game last year as the starting QB and that was to the eventual state champs.

completion rate isn't a great stat to show accuracy in high school, esp if they run the spread option
i saw a definite hitch in his mechanics, which means that he won't get it fixed at LSU unless we change coaches
and that video wasn't that in-depth, but it didn't look like he had a great arm

He has a good arm but he over throws all his wide receivers.

Lewis is looking more like a OLB to me than a safety.

None of us really know's how a player will "develop".
I can remember saban telling Vince young his future is at wr not qb. Vince young won mack brown his only n.c. as a qb. I also remember saban recruiting pat white as a wr. he wasn't qb material. Pat white put together one of the better college careers in college football as a qb.
you can go through this with a lot of great athletes. marshal faulk was suppose to be a db according to the coaches. he says no thanks, i want to be a running back. hall of famer as a rb.
i've said for a long time. It's the player and his inner will to succeed who makes him great. coaching is a part of it. Not all of it.
Daunte Culpepper didn't go to central florida because he had such polished qb skills. same for b favre, romo, warner, Ben r., ect.
this kid may be a flop at qb or he may have something special inside of him that makes him great. only time will tell.

He looks like a QB until he throws the ball.
That will need to be worked on.

Tebow's throwing motion sucked too. But this kid doesn't seem to have alot of zip on the ball.

We need depth at TE

I am not a recruiting guru or insider but i can provide some info on this kid. My friend plays tennis with his mom in Buford...he wants to go to Auburn. Now, if he believes what the coaches at LSU say about getting to play QB, he may change his mind. But for months now, he has been wanting to commmit to Auburn.
