Don't care about his ranking, this guys film pops.

He is crazy quick and athletic for his size. He has only been playing football for 2 years, and will have 3 to play 3.

Im very excited about this pick up. This guy could easily turn into a first round type talent if Grimes is the teacher and technician that he is said to be

This guy has really good film to my amateur eyes. It looks at though he has some impressive short range quickness. He takes lots of steps, has good balance and appears to be somewhat nimble.

I concur with this pickup.

Domond interviewing on ESPN 104.5

I'll update

Tidbits:

academically: plan is to enroll in January as of right now. Grades are right with a 3.0.

likes to run block but is a good pass blocker.

played hockey and was a goalie. Lived in boston for awhile. Moving his feet comes naturally and his hands improved a lot by playing goalie.

recently OU has come in and recruited. Miami, Wisconsin, Louisville, LSU, UA recruited him.

Seems intelligent and very well spoken.

So I guess since 247 has him as a 3 star we just assume that Grimes and Wilson are going after mediocre players that can't play in the SEC because their jobs don't depend on winning.

And 247 knows best because they probably spent a bunch of time watching film that Florida and LSU didn't watch.

Also to add, according to Shea Domond was tops on Grimes JUCO board because of his athleticism ...

Does anyone here agree that if you take a JuCo player, that he needs to start or be second string in his first year?

Reason: if you bring him in with three years to play two( I think that's how it works)' and a true frosh surpasses him, the next year, the true frosh will now be a sophomore, while the JuCo guy is a rs junior or may be a senior if he was a backup.........might as well have another true frosh come in and learn to back up for four years......no?

The reason you offer a JuCo is you are certain he is SEC -ready, since he only has two years of playing.

Any thoughts on this or is it,"" frick off dstone12, just get the best guys you can, and they start when they start. ""

Depth has to be a consideration.

And yes, even for depth considerations, you don't bring a JUCO guy in unless you think he's SEC ready.

I think here the media/services haven't caught up to where Domond is now. In other words, Staff saw enough where the services have not paid attention until teams started those evaluations.

Thank you.

Just an edit, as well, but I would like to declare that I don't put much into the recruiting services or rankings, in general. He is a take if coaches say so.
Let's all go ahead and admit it.....we are all pumped about getting a JuCo OT if since Lael is going,

This is just a question about the premise of recruiting a JuCo player and why they took him over a high schooler.

I know as much as Oprah does about recruiting when compared to Grimes.

He is a 4* on Rivals.

You need to look at his videos. He is a very aggressive OL, moves well, and really sustains his blocks on pass protection. Goes down field well.

Before moving to Arizona he was a well thought of athletic goalie on a HS Ice Hockey team. His HS coach in Arizona got him to play football after he saw him as a senior in Arizona. The same thing happen in community college.

Now after a year in Community College he has come to really like football and also the opportunity to earn a college education and whatever forward. He discussed how he highly values his scholarship for that purpose and how important it was to him. Now that was really refreshing and impressed me. Good head on his shoulders.

He may be one of the most underrated recruits this year and is considered a real sleeper. He will graduate and be at LSU for spring practice next year with 3 years to play 2.

But this guy is supposed to have 3 to play 3, not the standard JUCO 3 to play 2.

There is only one way he could have 3 to play 3 starting in 2015. That is by being enrolled in JC for 1 yr and playing only 1 yr and redshirting this year.

If the 3 to play 3 refers to starting this year (2014), then he would have had to be enrolled in JC for 2 years--redshirting one year and playing one year.

That's the only choices. The problem for me is verifying his enrollment date and playing time in JC. If anyone knows those things with certainty, he eligibility is easy to determine.
