NCAA to discuss changes to football recruiting calendar

According to Sports Illustrated, the proposal would move the December signing day up to early in the month and add a summer signing period so players could sign their LOI if they're sure of their decision and put recruiting behind them before they enter their senior season. February signing date would remain unchanged.

I don't hate this idea, but it should be capped per school. Otherwise it just turns into pressuring guys to sign the binding agreement earlier.
And it should also come with an automatic release if the head coach leaves the school before either of the next two signing periods.

Same thing that happened with Bamas kids. Enrolled will be consodered transfers, not enrolled pressure gets them released from LOI. Texas got pressured to release a kid for losing Bo Davis.

Personally I think portal shouldn't open or allowed to declare until after national championship game. This way it doesn't affect recruits or games.

The early signing period needs to end. Wait until the coaching carousel stops and sign in February. The catch and release we saw this year was ridiculous.

Nope. Not a fan. I can already see a shiteshow of when a kid wants out as a senior in high school, but they already signed.

Kids are going to sign in the summer and sit out their senior year of high school. Can’t be risking injury/NIL money.

Just leave it open. If the recruit and the school are ready to commit to each other just allow a LOI to be executed. The only thing the NCAA should enforce is a deadline. That is LOIs have to be signed by such and such date to be eligible for the upcoming season.
