I actually like the Bellard kid that ULL got. Exciting lil dirt bag type player

The Jordan brothers were dirt bags too. Like DeBarge.

No, I am not his father .
Just a friend of the family.

Debarge just got drafted in round one so I think he’s pretty good.

Calling a baseball player a “dirtbag” is a compliment.
The term “dirt bag” represents an attitude, a mindset, a deep desire to do anything possible to help the team win. In baseball today, many coaches feel that too many players are self focused instead of team focused.

I didn’t realize they had relatives in Basile?
I’ll check on that Monday.
I know they have relatives in Eunice.

He’s talking about the Jordan brothers

umm dirtbag is a compliment...means they play hard, not afraid to get dirty and will do anything to help the team win dumbass.

I didn't think that was something that would need to be explained, to be honest
It's one of the highest compliments for a baseball player, IMO, because one thing it compliments is effort.

I wanted to name my travel ball team (save me the jeers) this but the moms balked at the idea

If a poster on the recruiting page isn’t familiar with the term “dirt bag” they shouldn’t post here

I guess I’ll stop posting

I'm 51 and I've never known it to be a complimentary term. It's always been synonymous with scumbag and low character. Learned something new today.

Posted on 8/2/24 at 5:31 pm to wilceaux
In baseball it’s always been a term of endearment. Like the Long Beach state teams…known as dirtbags back in the day. Guys that play the game right, not scared to get in the dirt and dive or steal or do whatever it takes to help their team win
Posted on 8/2/24 at 5:36 pm to wilceaux
With the proliferation of travel ball, social media, and showcase events, there are not many dirtbags left in the game.

Since you're friends with the family, think if he made it to LSU that he would stick it out through his entire college career or portal-out if it looked like it might be his junior year before he saw significant PT?
