I would not take Williams because of his 40 times. he will get bigger and slower.

So you're under the impression that Williams has reached his athletic peak the summer before his senior year of high school?

lol at the ignorance in this thread...

I really don't understand how just because someone has a 40 time that is .1 slower than someone else, that all of a sudden they aren't 'LSU Material'

you people do realize how minuscule that difference is, right?

I get that you like Palelei. Alot. Borderline mancrush. I like him too. But, using 1 game to compare Guice and Palelei isnt too smart. Especially considering Guice wasnt even getting all the carries and was the #2 RB on his team. And he was a sophomore. And received an LSU offer as a sophomore.

Ill take Williams over Palelei as a special teamer. Dude is way more physical than Paleleli. I like Palelei alot. But, Williams is more physical overall. Cant deny that. That is what special teams is about. As a returner, sure Palelei probably has the upper hand over Williams at that. He is def more slippery than Williams. But straight ahead Williams wins that battle. Didnt really see him run through a lot of people in his highlights like Williams did. Def a shake and bake and hit the corner at top speed type of RB. And hes damn good. Just think Williams will be a better overall football player in college. Especially in the SEC.

If Palelei hits like a truck, I wonder what Williams hits like then...

But Id be more than happy to offer Palelei and get him in P&G. Not bashing him or anything. I want him here.

Williams was never getting an offer. Palelei will be the second RB, the sooner everyone accepts that, the better.

Don't know about that, but will be glad if Palelei gets that offer. Really like his highlights, and fight after contact.

the longer that we don't offer a 2nd back, it's looking like we are going Fournette only, unless at the 11th hour, we have a spot and Williams and/or Paleilei are still in the fold…

with Brossette and Guice pretty much ours for next cycle, it's very conceivable, that if none of the "other" backs show out this year, we just take LF and use the spot that would go to a 2nd back for maybe one of the receivers or DB's…

now, if the unthinkable (and very, VERY unlikely) happens, which is LF going elsewhere, and we do slow play everyone else, pissing them off in the process and we don't get anything of value (high 3 rated or better), we are screwed like Jude…

take it as a good sign that we aren't offering anyone else at this point… Les and Co. KNOW what the frick they are doing...

LOL, no man crush. Friend of the family, teammate of my two younger sons. I am objective though, as I've Coached several kids that have played in the SEC and NFL. You are wrong on a couple things, though. 1) Palelei IS more explosive than Guice. I don't need to view a whole season to see explosion.
2) I wasn't talking Returns on Special Teams. I and most anyone would take a 4:4 over 4:7 any day. There are a couple highlights in Palelei's video where he destroys a Denham and Dutchtown returner. I'd be willing to bet Palelei is the stronger of himself and Williams or Guice.
If he doesn't get an offer, I won't lose any sleep. He'll do fine at Okla St or Arkansas.

You can literally SEE the difference between a 4.40 and a 4.50 so that is not entirely true.

Do you think a guy that runs a 4.38 would be able to catch a 4.28 speed demon?

a 4.7 is slower than Hilliard and if that was hand timed, he probably runs close to a 4.8.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want him here.

Also I see impressive numbers for Palelei, but you never get to see this, are none of these things videoed? That one highlight reel is terribly meh. Maybe he'll turn into a Dri Archer clone

See the major difference? The incredible jump in skill? Maybe Palelei has that, wonder if Les will give him a shot?

That's a big drop off from LF to those two names on your list. LF is the package Les prefers in a running back such as size, size, speed, power, quickness, size again, etc.

I agree hes more explosive than Guice. But, Guice is a year behind him. He will get better, quicker, and faster at his reads this coming year when hes the #1 back. But, i agree. Palelei is 1 of the more explosive guys ive seen on film. Just give Guice a year to grow up before we make any comparisons. Being more explosive doesnt mean your the better RB. Both are damn good though, and both need to be playing in TS on saturdays.

Thats pretty awesome that you know him though. Really want to see him in the P&G. Who else have you coached?

Deciding on who the 2nd RB taken will be interesting indeed. ALL in for LF has been a blessing and a curse.. we are definitely in front for his services but our depth is decimated. I think the 2nd RB has to be another workhorse and every down back, just in case LF gets banged up or we are up by 28 on Akron St in the 3rd quarter.

Im a fan of both Sione and DWill, but it really is a hard call. Would Sione bring anything that Jeryl or Speedy wont? Does his frame hold up in the SEC?

DWill's 4.7 wasn't a great showing, and you also have 3 big bruisers in the 2015 class w Brosette, Guice, and Ducre. Also Upchurch's flexibility to maybe play some rb (which I'm not sure if that's just speculation on this board or an idea the staff is really floating).
