440lbs bench with a pause? Holy Frick that is damn good. Solid player and the Northshore league is not that weak.

Salter originally coached at SPS, was fired, and then went on to become a legend at Covington High, winning the state championship ('76?).
... so locally it is quite an anomaly that his grandson went to SPS. He has two cousins that play at CHS.

Am I an idiot for thinking that Freak Johnson could be a Marcus Spears type of DE?
I know that he is 295 or what ever lbs. But how great would it be to get the run stuffers of Johnson and Hunter with Thomas and Freak at Ends?
Is it possible?

How do the 2011 DT s compare to Copeland's film?
Specifically quickness off the ball and strength

Interesting, I didn't know he coached at SPS before CHS.

Dylan Long had a great night in the SPS/CHS game this year. I think he had 3 TDS.

He plays in a shitty Northshore area league...that is why. He dominates because almost every team in that area sucks bad. Not saying he lacks ability but he overwhelms because the league is terrible.
You are an idiot.

A. I'm not taking away from the kid due to who he plays. I say that because:
B. Yes teh Northshore is very weak for football. They've never had a team in the 5A title game. It's one thing to not win, but to never even compete for one means you're pretty weak.

Cant wait to see Mickey now that Bates is gone. MJ will prolly get double teamed. He's a raging bull. I didnt know he was that strong.

you can never recruit to many good big DT's. Good high school DT's make good college O-lineman. They usually have more speed and agility than their high school o-line counter parts.

Care to elaborate? Why do you think the Northshore league isn't weak?

I said it was weak.
That weak northshore league has produced
Matt Forte
Chris Faulk
Armand Williams
Mike Mauti
Ace Foyil
Jerry Mitchell
Steve Korte
Christian Ducre
Troy Giddens
Rishaw Johnson
Houston Bates
Mickey Johnson
...and that's off the top of my head in the last few years. I understand it's not one of the top districts in 5-A, but calling it weak is like comparing it to the MPSA league Steven Ridley came out of. Let's remember this is Louisiana 5-A football we are talking about, and I wouldn't call any LA 5-A league "weak".

Man, that sucks...hope they can change his mind...My opinion afer Rasco, Robinson, he is the must get after them...He plays the DT postion the way its supposed to be played..Hes clearly the second best inside guy in louisiana..

You would to if that was your only offer

Most of those prospects you listed amounted to almost nothing in their careers or have yet to prove anything. A few decent prospects towards major colleges does not make that league above "weak".
Their is a lot of leagues around Louisiana that produce a lot of prospects but the teams in the area just aren't that good. That is why someone like Faulk is such a attractive prospect because he wasn't in a great program for coaching/conditioning and yet hes already a imposing prospect. See Davenport last year or Woods when he came out. Did Woods pan out to the hype?
That doesn't change the fact the league teams suck, the conditioning program sucks and the coaching sucks.
