LSU has a more recent national championship. Maybe he's afraid of competing with all the stellar recruiting classes we've had

LSU looking at Texas QB McCoy

See the date of the article you are quoting? October. When was National Signing Day? That would be February 2005 (approx 4 months after your gospel here was written).

Colt McCoy was coming to LSU as long as RP was going to Texas. RP changed his mind and so did Colt.

Yea and the other article that was written with Mccoy saying he was sticking with Texas was Dec. 14th.

If, Mccoy was coming her why didnt he visit here, perriloux didnt switch committments until Feb 2, signing day. up until then he was still committed to texas and yet Mccoy never visited. So, please tell me how Mccoy was coming here with no visit, no talk about hi switching commits after Dec 14th.

Dont you think in 2 months Sonny would have talked to him in an interview if there was smoke. guess what there wasnt. so Sonny never called him.

So, please stop with Mccoy was coming here because he wasn't.

you guys forget one very important thing. COLTS DAD played at UT. moving on. one day the rantards will learn that a texas recruit is hard to snag. mack brown locked up texas the way saban used to lock down LA. you may get a couple of kids every year that want to play somewhere else . Shep commited to LSU after UT offered him at WR. so what happens if Shep would have know his future at LSU was at wideout?

1.We dont let our best players play. We save them for some mythical (future needs) time.
2.Texas program in much better shape with more stability
3. Offense that puts LSU to shame with less talent IMO
4. Wouldn't let RR play this year, he knew he would have to sit and watch worse players screw up
5. Gary Crowton
6. Miles not in control of anything
7. LSU refused to drop the OC so he went on a visit there. You really think it's a coincidence the timing.
8. Miles isn't man enough to fire the worst OC in the world!

ps the reasonon fresh sit here is the offense is soooooooo much of a cluster fick, seniors haven't even caught on yet!
We should have sat some older guys and played our young studs this year, next year we would be that much better!!! THAT is what Bama did.

Next year it will be all-everything Garrett Gilbert starting his college career and he is going to throw the ball a lot and probably well.

That sounds familiar. Hmmmmmmmm.......

OH! I figured it out! Michigan....

Is that post suppose to actually mean something?

Mallet was going through a coaching change where RR does not use a pocket style passer like Mallet.

Gilbert will be the starter next year at UT and I expect him to do very, very well there.

1.We dont let our best players play. We save them for some mythical (future needs) time. Besides Randle/Shep (who obviously had a firm grasp on the playbook from day 1)and Trindon - who were were the "best players" we were "saving"?

2.Texas program in much better shape with more stability. Yes - of course it is. It's a lot easier to stay atop the Big 12 than the SEC.

3. Offense that puts LSU to shame with less talent IMO. If you think the Longhorns have less talent this year - wait until next year... UT's coaches are going to have their work cut out for them.

4. Wouldn't let RR play this year, he knew he would have to sit and watch worse players screw up So you are saying Davis thinks he should be ahead of Randle, Toliver and most likely Tolliver/Mitchell on the depth chart as an incoming Freshman and he knows it? Not sure that's the kind of attitude that's good for a team.

5. Gary Crowton Without a QB to translate the Xs and Os? I may give you that one (of course it may be the QB... 2 camps on this one).

6. Miles not in control of anything Smarter than he looks. I'll be interested to see how much control/composure remains intact on the UT sideline against Alabama.

7. LSU refused to drop the OC so he went on a visit there. You really think it's a coincidence the timing. No... I am not in the "we lost him" camp. I thought it was odd that we had a commit from him in the first place. I think his HS career was ending and he was being pissy because UT hadn't offered him yet so he used LSU as the bait. I think the Longhorns have a RP type on their hands (see #4 above as supporting argument). Hope they have fun with that.

8. Miles isn't man enough to fire the worst OC in the world! Really? The whole world? Not man enough? Now you're just hollering at the interwebs cuz' nobody will listen to your crap IRL.

(Your grammar and diction now destroy any shred of credibility you may have been maintaining up until this point.)

I guess I should have clarified where I was coming from on this...

Both were rated #1 in Texas coming out of high school.

Both were behind successful 4-year starters as Freshmen and poised for their "breakout" season as "all-everything".

he is going to throw the ball a lot and probably well.
- If you take a look at Michigan boards before DickRod came aboard, you will see a lot of people saying the exact same thing.

lynxcat - If you were taking this as me bashing the kid... then your perception was a little off.

Yeah, I think I misunderstood you original post a little.

I do think that Gilbert needs to continue to add weight. He has been a string bean ever since highschool. Otherwise, I don't know if I think he will make it through the entire year as a starter.

He will definitely have the opportunity to shine. It will be very interesting to see how he does.
