Thought it would be a good time to start this thread up as we've already had two players state their intentions to enter the portal. The 2026 men's college basketball transfer portal officially opens on April 7, the day after the NCAA Tournament championship game. The portal remains open for a 15-day period, closing on April 21. Early reports are that Wade will have around $12-15 million in roster construction funds this season which is about double the amount we were working with last year. We're definitely in for a fun offseason.

On3 Article: Recruits React to Will Wade Leaving NC State for LSU LINK
quote:
Will Wade made it official on Wednesday, announcing he is leaving NC State to be the head men’s basketball coach at LSU. The move opens another head coaching opportunity in the ACC. Below top high school recruits react to the news of Wade’s decision.
3-Star LSU Commit Marcus Vaughns: “I mean, I don’t know much about Will Wade to be honest, but I’ve started to watch a big of film. I have seen the success he’s had as a coach, regardless of where he’s been. And I’ve seen the things he cares about from a coaching and team perspective, which is something I’m definitely excited for. But, I mean, at the moment, this whole process is all new to me, so I’m interested as to how this is going to play out and what the future for this team looks like. But I’m definitely excited about it.”
4-star PG Tyrone Jamison, Jr. (2027): “Man, just crazy. Shows you it’s a business.”
5-star SG Ryan Hampton (2027): “It’s really great seeing him back there coaching at LSU because he had really great years there before he left. Glad to see him back at the Bayour. This is really big for LSU.”
4-star SG ONeal Delancy (2027): “He’s a great coach, they’ll be blessed to have him. It’ll be great to see what he does in the future.”
4-star SF Dawson Battie (2027): “The game is changing fast, man!”
Five-Star Plus+ Duke commitment Deron Rippey: “An interesting move. I wish him luck in his new endeavors.”
5-star PG Reese Alston (2027): “It’s good for LSU to have a coach like that back.”
4-star SF Jarvis Hayes Jr (2027): “Man, I was definitely surprised! But everyone has their own route and plan. I would just say trust God!”

Dedan, does not strike me as a Wade player, Wade emphasizes toughness and grit, and as much as I enjoyed watching him this year, don't see them as a match for one another, especially with his price tag.

If he’s a shooter like his pops, sign him up!

It was shaping up to be an SMU/ NC-State battle for 5-star SG Ryan Hampton. So expect LSU to get involved there quickly.

I'd been stunned if Allen Graves (Santa Clara) isn't one of the first calls Wade makes
Posted on 3/26/26 at 2:33 pm to tigersham
He is not in the portal but Santa Clara star Allen Graves is from Ponchatoula and his older brother played here for Wade. Might be something to keep an eye on. Not mind blowing stats but he's a solid player in the typical Wade type Guard/Wing combo.

I haven’t seen a single mock with his name listed. Are you thinking of Cenac at Houston?
