Burris has received multiple OU cb today and Clayton Smith has recieved multiple this week. LSU also offered Kelvin Gilliam today so the Burris to OU does seem legit, and Clayton will announce Friday. Did we just lose out on these guys or are we pushing somebody else harder now?

Maybe they want to see what it’s like getting blown out of the first round of the playoffs (an OU tradition)

Do they play defense?
If so, Oklahoma doesn't know how to. Gave up 7 TDs in one half vs LSU

Burris going to OU instead of TAMU is the story. They thought they would land the Texarkana boys. Not getting either is showing Jimbo doesn’t have good connects with the TX High School coaches.

The next one that'll do something similar to Jackson and Burris. It seemed as though this was actually starting happen last year, where Jimbos relationship with HS coaches
made it harder for his recruits to be 100% committed to them or for him to not even land them. He should've absolutely had Zach Evans. Also Thank you sir

Can you expand on this a little for those of us who aren’t as in touch? Thanks in advance.

I wanna say Demond Demas was posting pro LSU stuff all season long, plus a few other things that I saw that made it seem as though Jimbo couldn't lock down the recruits. As well as most of their Texas recruits weren't very highly ranked, the three they got that where inside the top 200 where a WR, QB, and a Safety that lives right next to A&M(they had I think 5-6 total Texas recruits). MMC could probably elaborate more on it than I could.

This staffs adjusting took some getting used to. The way we are playing it is we need to recruit at an elite level without having the resume to recruit at that level. We have everything else so we are recruiting every kid we think has high end sec potential and going in on those we feel comfortable about. We have won a lot against penn state and some Ohio state and are actually going about 50/50 with Bama, LSU is one of the only schools we haven’t improved recruiting against honestly. In Texas we use the same approach but TX high school kids are different especially with social media(some are getting lucrative sponsorship offers as sophomore/jrs) a lot of these kids have followed football their whole lives and know where they want to go this staff just doesn’t put time into those kids. Byrd is a great example of that we reached out previously and he had 0 interest we backed off, he contacted Henson we started in on him and are presumed to get and official and an outside shot. If we can start consistently winning 10+ games recruiting will get hard in state for the big 12 IMO but til then we have no chance of locking down the state with LSU, OU, Bama, and tOSU coming in, not worried about longhorns in the long run really

Thank you sir. Another question, how would you say Jimbos relationship with HS coaches has affected the ability to grab big time in-state recruits? It seems to so far be a negative this year and it looked as though it was difficult for him to keep some of his top targets.

I think it’s a bit overplayed. We never felt shaky on our side with Jones or Demas. I think a lot of the issue is we aren’t willing to accept a tweener from TX as apprised to someone from Illinois who can start. It has rubbed a few coaches wrong but our normal pipelines are good and we are breaking in with schools we have had issues at for a long time. Another issue is for the most part we are only recruiting the top 20ish are so guys and in that area means we are going against you guys OU, LSU, Bama and when we lose those I think it’s played as the coach doesn’t like Jimbo. Overall I think it plays out year to year. Most years Texas will land land the majority of the instate kids more and more then ever we are doing that. Next year we will have a chance to clean up in state again I think we did in 2019. But our feeling is we can’t just recruit TX so we will develope those pipelines and keep recruiting Texas our best if we can put results on the field instate will increase even more over time. TLDR I don’t think there is an issue I believe it has more to do with who we are recruiting and a change in recruiting culture that people aren’t used to seeing from A&M

Thank you sir, thought it would be better to ask you about it since most of us are tiger fans and wouldn't know about that.

Not a problem. For what it’s worth on Byrd they also said LSU was likely to get an OV too. And if I had crystal ball on Burris it would still be on LSU. Grinch won’t be at at OU for signing day next year and Jackson will be in his ear daily.
