That is not nearly good enough to go to Harvard, which for someone from the hinterlands and no football talent would require about a 36 to have about a 10% chance of getting in.
36 is a perfect ACT score, is it not? Pretty sure that would pretty much guarantee acceptance.

We going after the wrong Caleb baw, lol

Harvard probably rejects half of their 36 ACT or 1600 SAT applicants. If anything, they reject more.
On the other hand, if Lindsey Scott or any other QB they wanted had 25 ACT, they would be on the team in no time. A 25 is good enough for the major sports, especially with a good GPA.
And any guy who plays 4 years at Harvard in a big sport will have some sort of Wall Street job lined up for him if that’s the route he wants to go. And if you’re doing things right, it will be a front office job. Might be hard to get without a gpa starting with a 3 though, so that’s where you’ll see satellite offices, financial advisory, middle office, etc.
I think a huge advantage of growing up in the Northeast and/or with money is that actually means something to the recruits where it might as well be gibberish to a lot of kids from LA.
And while there aren’t athletic scholarships, every student (not student-athlete) whose family income is below a certain number, pays zero tuition. It is either 125 or 150K, barring the family having insane amounts in savings, land, or a 401K.

and he flipped to LaTech today
Very surprised to see this. I heard his dad last year saying how La Tech was after him hard and Caleb had decided Tech was where he was going. A day or 2 before he was going to make it official, they get a call that Tech was going with someone else.
I guess things have changed.

I don’t want another kid, don’t care how good going to LSU over Harvard. I love LSU but if my son hard those 2 or any big school and a Ivy League option, go Ivy!

You have no way of knowing any of that gibberish you posted
I especially lol’d at this

Um no. I had a 34 ACT and didn’t have a prayer in hell of getting in. A 36 ACT is pretty meaningless to Harvard. They care more about you being President of the Latin Club than test scores.

I’ve visited the Harvard campus. It’s one thing to base your decision solely on reputation, but to actually go to school there and live in Boston is a completely different ballgame. Some kids are homegrown. Some kids are perfectly satisfied with the instate college experience. That’s why I’ll never fault a kid for going where they want to go. Let’s be completely honest too, if a kid has the academic potential to succeed at Harvard, they will surely have the potential to succeed anywhere in Louisiana. And with that being said, does the degree straight out of UL, Tech, LSU, etc vs Harvard equate to that much more money or opportunity, if the student truly is successful

Just because you don’t know something doesn’t mean others are in the same boat.
Eta: the part you are laughing at is actually some of the most easily searchable for someone who is a member of the general public, if you really want to find out and have LinkedIn.

Caleb is a solid QB and I wish him well.
Little brother Eli is the one with immense potential that LSU will likely offer at some point.
QB at Zachary now.

One brother went to St. Thomas More in Lafayette and another went to Zachary?

Otherwise, Eli would be sitting behind Walker Howard for 2 years

Aren’t the schools like 75 miles apart? I guess that’s what I’m trying to wrap my head around.

Lindsey Scott decided it would be best for him to bypass the Harvard scholarship
First if LSU had always been a dream of his, then you have to weigh that into the equation. On the surface you are correct that was a bad move, but you have to look under the surface also. Maybe it explains it and maybe not, just sayin that you have to know the entire story to judge whether it was a good choice or not.
Now financially it looks to be a very bad mistake at this point.

Jesus. No they are not.
You like the kid. He may play somewhere else and have a solid career at that place. But, to insinuate Coach O et al don’t know how to assimilate talent (which “missing out” infers), is offensive.
fricking stop.
ETA: noticed it was old post....sentiment holds

Mom got a good job in BR area and family moved into Zachary school district last year. They let Caleb stay in Lafayette to finish out football season.
I don’t know all the logistics, but that’s the gist of it.
