HVL starts her last 3v3 gig tomorrow
Speaking of FIBA, LSU target, Joyce Edwards, won gold today for the USA U19 5v5 team and was named to the All-Star 5 (top performers of the tournament).
This tournament was my first time seeing her in action outside of youtube highlights. She was very consistent getting buckets, but no dominant skills that stood out. She has an almost identical game to Angel Reese's offense under the basket (Center moves in a Power Forward body. Lots of layups & putbacks). However, like Angel, she has no mid-range shot (at least, not in this tournament). But unlike Angel, she has mediocre rebounding/defense. I'm just not seeing the "#1 overall prospect" hype.

Edwards is pretty raw but great athlete. Not sure about #1 but definitely top 10 prospect for her class. Sarah Strong seems to still be #1 recruit LSU wants but if you are choosing between Edwards and Carlton, Edwards definitely is the better prospect.
I think ideally they want Strong and Koval if they had to pick but you continue to recruit all of them because you aren't sure who you will get.
The Cambridge recruitment seems to have gotten a bit more interesting, a top 15 player is supposedly committing to SC next month (same position as Cambridge). The team to beat out is probably Ohio St with her sister there and she seems to like them a lot

About a month ago, a YouTube UConn-fan channel made a video regarding rumors that Strong silently committed to UConn based entirely on Geno’s cryptic read-between-the-lines comments.
Sarah is tentatively scheduled to visit LSU in September (as well as Koval) and I expect Kim & staff to pull out all the stops.
The rumors don’t make sense, so I dismissed them. I get committing to a school, but why silently commit 6 months out? Usually, public commitments by stars help with recruiting a stacked class which I’m sure she wants. Silent commitments are usually done to prevent scaring away players at her position (like say, Koval) but with the portal now, there are no sure-signings/guarantees they’ll ever play there if a player feels there won’t be enough minutes and was duped into signing. Also, I can’t imagine Strong staying silent just to get free dinners at various schools she visits. Still, UConn must be a real player because she already visited with Geno.

If O Neal goes anywhere besides LSU it would be a surprise.

If she’s even considering Cal, her academics must be strong. And that automatically makes Cal a strong contender.

Will be interesting to see how this will play out. Numbers will be tight if they get the people they are after .

I heard LSU is in a good spot with Sarah strong. Will find out more after early September when she visits with Koval

In what world do you think lsu isn’t going to save a spot for Shaq’s daughter? She’s talented and she can continue our NIL momentum. Insane suggestion that we won’t have room for her

More good news (indirectly):
#7 overall 5-10 guard from Tennessee, Imari Berry, surprisingly picked Clemson over SEC teams (& rivals) South Carolina & Tennessee. That’ll sting.

Looks like the Lady Tigers are officially out of the running as Parker recently tweeted out a Top 8: Baylor, Texas aTm, Ole Miss, USCw, Miss St, Baylor, OSU, Duke, & Oregon.

Can't all come here. We really don't have any room. Is she 24, 25 or 26 cruit?

Yeah I think LSUs final targets for the 24 class are cambridge, Edwards, Koval, Strong and O’Neal
They hosted a couple of other 24 recruits last year but seemed to back off of them as of late
Of that target list 4 of those are in the top 5
I know Carlton listed us but I’ve heard zero buzz on her. LSU seems all in on Koval, Strong and Edwards in terms of posts

Every year that Tennessee keeps Harper as head coach they’ll fall further behind.

Wrong. She’s a Tiger.

I think O Neal is a given. Any of the others are great prospects but I kinda favor Kaval at 6’5.
