Does Kori have tall parents so that she is expected to grow a bit more going forward?

Her parents are not tall. Her father played PG in college. He trains her. I think she may max out at like 5'11 or maybe 6'0. But that's just my uneducated guess.

2023 Who's NXT All-American Game (feat. Mikaylah Williams, Angelica Velez & Aalyah Del Rosario on the same team)

This game was actually played on WCBB Final Four Weekend, but was just uploaded to YouTube. If you saw the Ballislife Girls All-Star Game about a month ago with the LSU trio playing together on the same team, you probably came away thinking that Mikaylah is a beast, Velez is a revelation, and Del Rosario is a project. In this game, Del Rosario is still raw, but much more active & promising as a big body rebounder.

Del Rosario: 15 reb, 4 pts, 2 blk, 1 stl

Velez: 19 pts, 5 assists, 5 reb, 1 stl

Williams: 27 pts, 4 assists, 6 reb

Bonus: Williams/Velez interviewed together post-game (and the broadcast's play-by-play/color is much more professional & coherent)

Rosario is gonna be very good but she is very raw offensively. Rebounds well and has great moves near the rim, just needs to work on finishing through contact near the rim. Sa'Myah Smith came into LSU with that exact same issue and she got much better in short time despite limited minutes year one. She will benefit significantly from college offseason conditioning.

Its a pretty special class, besides the headliners Rosario and Williams, Velez and Kent IMO will surprise a lot of people.

Justice Carlton highlights from two weeks ago

Interestingly, she plays on the same 17U Cy Fair EYBL team that features other top LSU targets Me’Arah O’Neal, Aailyah Chavez, & Ayla McDowell. That's like one-stop shopping for Redus.

Yea, I just didn't understand the low expectations for Del Rosario. I saw her play in the McDonalds All American game and I was quite impressed. She's decisive in the post, makes good passes, and even showed range from the 3 pt line. I think she'll give us VERY good minutes in her first year. I don't expect her to start, but I think she's going to help us her first year for sure. Mikaylah is a day one starter.

Anyone crunch the numbers. How many can we sign in 24. We are at 13 scholarship players now with the 23 signing class and the portal additions. There are no seniors tho for next season. If everyone stays after next season it seems we can only sign 2. Am I wrong about this.

This may be a unpopular opinion but I have a strong feeling not every single player who could return for that covid year will return although I think someone will. Reese, HVL, and Poole are technically seniors next year, all could return for a 5th year if they wanted it.

Obviously the coaches have already probably gone through this scenario and what could happen so I imagine they have a plan in place in case Reese and/or HVL leave. I get the vibe they already have a good idea and are planning accordingly as we speak.

I would think there'll be some unexpected attrition, whether it's a star that turns pro early, or a sometimes-starter/backup who transfers out, or a no-minutes bench warmer losing a scholarship or transfers out for playing time.

If HVL gets her ring & feels she's been developed enough by Mulkey as a PG/show-runner, I could see her wanting the challenge to compete against pro's. Money-wise, it'd be a dumb move, but I could see it. There's also the slight possibility of the HVL/Morrow additions not meshing & some star leaving. Or what happens if a distracted rapper/baller Flau'jae is regulated to 2nd team if a backup outplays her?

I could see Poole and/or Poa possibly feeling slighted & transferring out if their roles don't expand into starter minutes, especially if Mikaylah and/or Velez earn more significant time.

Then there are the unknown backups, like Bartlett, A Williams, Besselman, etc. IIRC, scholarships are not a guaranteed for 4 years but are annually renewed. If so, maybe Mulkey forces out some bench players who don't progress, or they themselves just decide to go elsewhere to get playing time.

Side note, Rosario moved in today. Getting to LSU so early and getting a entire summer of college conditioning and individual workouts will be big for her going into fall workouts and this upcoming season.

Awesome. Rosario & Velez just graduated together from the same school Friday. I wonder if Velez follows suit soon as well.

Velez moved in some of her stuff as well but I believe she is coming in on a slightly later date (along with Kent and Williams)

I think they made it a priority especially for Rosario to get ahead of schedule with strength and conditioning program. Really could be a critical component for this team this year when they truly need some size inside. Not saying she will play full blown starter minutes but 10-15 minutes off the bench seems like something they would like to do (similar to Sa'Myah last season)

She will be going off with team USA this summer later on but glad she is here early.

She looks super happy and you are right she is gonna play like Smith did last season. I can not wait to see her grow as she adapts to the college game.

Was procrastinating and looked at the portal results. The State coach seems like he’s doing a bang up job rebuilding their program. I like the ole miss coach too but been surprised she hasn’t really signed many top recruits since her initial top class, though she’s plugging holes with the portal.

Sec seems like it’ll be much deeper than last season even though it was underrated. Still, I don’t see how we aren’t 20+ point favorites against everyone besides Tennessee and South Carolina

This is my niece, Kori Wesley, playing against 5A Zachary High this year. 8TH GRADER, 2 year starter for her high school team. Rated #4 in La. for 2027. I'm waiting to see what other 2027 prospect has a bigger impact on the game in the state.

UPDATE:Kori won Defensive MVP at Kim Mulkey Basketball Camp today. Coach Redus complimented her on being an elite defensive player. Coach Mulkey came to see her briefly. And LSU commit Mikayla Williams was very impressed with Kori as Mikayla was officiating the games and after seeing Kori play came over and high fived her on a few occasions.
She said she was very impressed with Kori and was surprised she is only an 8th grader.
