LSU is reportedly set to host South Carolina defensive end transfer Gilber Edmond this weekend. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder from Fort Pierce, Fla. signed with the Gamecocks as a member of the 2020 recruiting class and appeared in 21 games over three seasons in Columbia. This past season, he accounted for 39 tackles in 12 games and had nine tackles for loss and two sacks.

Is he projected to be a Jack here or a hand in dirt DE?

He was a Buck LB at SC whatever that is in their system it says. At 250 pounds I'd assume either hand in dirt or stand up rush end alot like BJ was.
Has decent stats for this past year starting 10 games. Lead SC in TFL

59.4 PFF grade this past season, so pretty average
Had ok pass rush and run defense grades but missed a lot of tackles (almost 20% missed tackle rate)
At his size he can do either the Ali Gaye DE spot or stand up spot

If I’m correct, 2 years of eligibility left?

Jake Renfro the C from Cinci is also visiting this weekend with him

Can we find a linebacker to join him this weekend

What do you have on this one, if anything, Crown?

We have 5 spots left to get to 85, currently at 80 if nobody else leaves and everybody expected to return returns

Us and Wisconsin. He's familiar with Denbrock and Fickell. Gut says he stays up north. Would be a great get for some more competition in the trenches.

Sounds like Justin Rogers is going to be here Thursday and Friday too

Didn't someone say we were in really great shape for him? I know A&M is trying their best to get Lucas to back out of the portal.

Wisconsin under Fickell is going to get scary, quickly. Though, LSU’s staff will develop him like no other. Be a great get but can’t blame him should he choose either side.

I thought it sounded like we were in good shape but I saw he’s going to visit Miami once he leaves BR Friday. Also has interest in visiting Alabama and Auburn .

Would be Rogers first visit correct? Hmm so it’s Rogers, Edmond, Renfro, and Lucas, that I’ve been seeing as targets, any realistic chance Kelly and staff land say even three of the four? I’ve heard Lucas was at Arizona State recently (from AZ area), but I’ve also read it’s between Alabama, LSU, and Colorado.

Thanks for the insight, hopefully LSU can land him, be a good addition to the line

LSU seems to be recruiting him hard with some other big universities.
He's probably seen more as a can't miss try to recruit him type even though we're pretty solid at DT right now. Going to be a hard sell to tell him to play behind Wingo/Smith but he should understand when he's in first rotation it will basically be like a starting position fresh. Plus Smith is coming off injury don't know well he'll translate.

He’ll get some great PT and with House and Cain? Great development as well.

JK Johnson from Ohio State also. Honestly I think it’ll be tough. Edmond I have to imagine would be the easiest pull. I would think Lucas would be an easier pull than Rogers personally because he’s younger and could rotate this year then probably start next year when I’m sure Wingo and/or Smith leave but you know how it goes when Saban is recruiting them. Renfro I see as a Wisconsin lean with Fickell there but these are just my opinions.
