--------------------
After looking at UCLA schedule I would be surprised if they didn’t beat us solidly, something in the 5-2, 6-1 range. No shame in that, LSU is a young team that will learn!! Sometimes being humbled is a good thing early in the season
--------------------
Do I think we could be better with some minor adjustments in coaching decisions---Yes. Do I think we can still compete with UCLA in our present state--Yes.
Casual: I agree that I wouldn't be shocked if we lost to UCLA 5-2 BUT I also would not be shocked if we defeated UCLA 4-3. I agree with you that there is no shame in a competitive loss to them, especially if they throw KT Terry at us. But I do have some confidence that we could beat them. I definitely think we would fair better against the other pitchers they have in their bullpen though. The question is can we hold them down offensively to give us a chance---They have struggled against lefties this year but I think it's unfair to expect our lefty to be ready just yet so you go with Berzon and I think they will hit some hard balls against Berzon. Could come down to our defense but I give us a fighting chance based upon what I've seen thus far.
I agree that UCLA is more battle-tested thus far--They've had a more competitive schedule. We have to build up our resume and maybe we'll start with a UCLA bullet-point...

Agree with you 100%, I was trying to make the point it’s the 1st away game with really 4-5 1st time full time starters and don’t put too much stock in 1 game. It’s a win win regardless of what happens. The overall trip will be a great learning experience to get ready to travel in the SEC

-Berzon rock solid and looking good as expected.
-Struggling offensively as expected. But doing better than UCLA!!
-McKee not starting for a reason in biggest game thus far.
--Loving Bergeron’s emergence!! looking NOTHING like the last two years.
Big time encouraged. Looking left Top 2/3 right now. If we hold on to this lead it will be big.

Walker not showing out
——-
Irrelevant FirstCut. McKee hasn’t played for Walker all year long. It’s Daniel you should be looking at. Walker doesn’t play 2B.

this team has a chance to be special..
Don't get too high or low on one game...looked like a title team when they beat UT last year.
However, great win!!

No criticism necessary. Your points were not way out of bounds and made sense. Some maybe don't like the delivery but I agreed with your reasoning.
-Berzon was on point as expected and the clear ACE!!
--Heavener is coming though. She will be really good and building her confidence is the way to go. I agree with Coach on that. Beth has always been a good coach of pitchers.
--McKee should be 3rd on depth chart at 2B, and that will eventually show I think
--Bergeron & Edwards showed something this game that is immensely important to this season: Can they face elite pitching and do well
--Lassiter is coming along!!
This team has more growing to do and they just beat one of the best teams in the country---again primarily off of pitching and defense.

Agree but it’s a little different to go to basically LA and beat UCLA.. you’re right though you aren’t as good or bad as you think after 1 game

You said a mouthful, FirstCut!!! I couldn't agree with you more!!!!

THAT was FUN!!!! Totally agree with all of you guys. Don't let the successes go to your head or the losses go to your heart!! BUT, that was an exhibit for the doubt (self-doubt, fan doubt, opponent doubt, etc.)!!! And I agree this team has a lot of room for improvement especially offensively and the coaches and players will likely realize that improvement if approached the right way.
Alum: I couldn't agree more on your points about Macie, Tori and Berzon!! The trick now--as I think you may have pointed out--is to not let this impact the business at hand in the next 4 games.

Check that comment Casual. Only time she’s been DP was either when Walker was out injured (just returned from ankle) OR when Walker was in LF already and Laneaux was not in lineup. Given how well Lanaeax had been doing at the plate AND outfield she stayed in. McKee hasn’t once played in Walkers place.

McKee now at DP in Walkers stead. But unless Walker not fully recovered she shouldn’t be. To be honest I was shocked to see Walker I. The game after seeing the way her ankle rolled to the dirt

RELHAM!!!! Thank you!!!!! Never knew that. Best post I’ve seen in weeks!! lol.

Despite your chiding, McKee did well in drawing the lead off walk. Innings with a lead off walk tend to be good ones and the Tigers hang a crooked number in this one.
Posted on 2/27/25 at 8:19 pm to The First Cut
AGAIN she is facing low level pitching. And she always holds her bat until she has no choice unless it is a very low level pitcher. McKee is not a good offensive player—or at minimum far from the best option in that dugout. “Chiding”??? Only speaking facts.

Well!!! There goes breaking the 24-0 record. Feared the game following that emotional win.
