He is my high school teammates youngest kid. He is a Senior at Weiss high school in Texas and is currently committed to Texas Tech. He is currently ranked as the 9th best Safety on the On3 site and composite 15th ranking. He is a 4 star and ranked 107 overall on On3. In his Senior year, he already has 8 interceptions. I am guessing he may get a good bump in the rankings based on his senior year performance. His family is originally from Louisiana, so it’s not far fetched that he could be flipped with an LSU offer. He also has an offer from Ole Miss.

Since I moved to DFW in 2014 it seems like majority of people I have talked to are from Louisiana or have family in Louisiana.

True, but this is a legit top 250 national recruit who is committed to a Big 12 team.

Based on his resume, he would certainly fit into most college rosters.

He was also offered by Deon and you know Deon knows DB talent when he sees it.

I don’t know that and neither do you. This is a pervasive misunderstanding that because someone was good at a task, he must be able to evaluate and coach others at that task. This is absolutely false. It might be true, but it also might be true that he can’t evaluate them as well as he evaluates offensive linemen.

In my career, I’ve seen the misapplication of this do a great deal of damage. It is the main lever behind The Peter Principle. In fact, I am prejudiced against people, who excelled at a task due to extreme talent, moving into supervision. It hardly ever works out. Ask yourself, was Saban a great defensive back? Was Brian Kelly a great player? Sean Peyton? Bill Belichick? Vince Lombardi?

I hope the defensive staff gives Peyton Morgan a look.

But to sidetrack a bit here since Peyton Todd's name has been mentioned, do you think he will have a good chance to become the top punter next season?
