OU opened up with a 198.050 to open year....my lord

Watching now looks like a bit of generous scoring on vault so far but not out the box

I like Desiderio in the lead off spot because of consistency but still worry she’ll get lower scores then she would if she were later in the lineup.

Dean will come along on beam but hoping to see bailey take over on bars.

Also definitely some over scoring for Oklahoma, not insane, but enough to push them over 198.

Have you heard what colleges Colbi is considering? What year will she graduate?

She is 2020

She has been in contact with LSU, Alabama, Georgia among others over the years.

She went on a visit to Georgia when Sami's mom was the HC

I think one of the most absurd things was Nichols scoring a 9.9 on her bars routine that missed multiple handstands, her pak salto to the low bar where her legs literally scrapped the mat.

I am enjoying the OU and UCLA people attacking each other like dogs after the opening weekend lol

I just finished watching that OU meet. The girls are very good, but the scoring seemed very generous. I noticed their coach on vault standing at the end of the mat and pointing at where the girls should land during the one and a halfs. It almost looked like cheating, but I guess they allow it. Maybe our team should consider doing this if it helps the girls spot the landing.

Yea scoring isn't very accurate to begin the year tbh

Some are very strict, others are loose and not taking proper deductions. It all balances out by the end of the season.

Dunne strikes me as a future star in NCAA Gym...

It is so tough to make a US National team these days and the Elite scoring system emphasizes different strengths than the NCAA scoring system (if we can call it a system ).

I think Dunne is gymnast who's skill set is tailor made for college, and she still has tons of difficulty.

By no way did we deserve to beat Auburn tonight, but that beam rotation judging was horrible - for both sides! Whoever was taking those 2 second deductions needs to practice counting

So... follow me here. There’s no way i could rewatch last nights meet without taking blood pressure medication, but i was still curious about beam deductions, so i did watch Bridgette’s again.

Let me first say, by no means was it a perfect routine. But it was well above the 9.7 and 9.65 she received for the average of 9.675.

I really think the judges are taking the 2 second deduction incorrectly. Rewatching her routine she had 3 “large” pauses. One before her series, another before her front aerial, and then another before her dismount. When timing with a stop watch, from her last movement to the beginning of her next, the longest pause of all those skills was 1.66 seconds. However, i understand people aren’t that smart (exhibit A as we talk) and numbers and specially math don’t come naturally. I wonder if the judges see the gymnast stop and immediately count 1 second? Because here’s the deal, that not 1 second, that’s really 0.000001 of a second? Does that make sense?

Just watching her routine, when she pauses and you immediately count 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, then yes, the deduction should be taken, but that’s not right. The gymnast should pause, then a full second must elapse before you can begin counting with 1.

I just don’t see Bridgette’s score being mathematically possible without taking at least one 2 second rule. Which on replay with a stop watch, Is not possible. I wonder if these were the same judges who beat Alabama up the weekend before?

Unbelievable, 3 days if you make a decision don't fold that easily, or just don't hire her in the 1st place. Totally spineless

Just some early observations:

I think Myia’s shoes are gonna be harder to fill than initially thought. Myia was almost a guaranteed 9.90 in every event. We haven’t seen that thus far.

Vault

LSU is going to need six 10.0 vaults. No ifs ands or buts about it! Looking at OU, UF, Utah, & UCLA, LSU can’t afford not to. OU debuted six tonight against Georgia. Florida, while they took some large lunges, the form is there. Each of those schools will count at least four scores of 9.9 or better. LSU won’t be able to count any score less than 9.85 it plans to advance past regionals. I know Lexie, Sarah, McKenna & Bailey are each training 10.0 vaults, and I’m hoping we see those soon.

Bars

I’m not sure if Bridget should be in the lineup. I’m hoping Bailey can get more consistent in practice and challenge her for the second spot. Bridget can’t seem to hit a handstand. LSU can’t afford to count anything less than a 9.85 if they plan to contend at Regionals and hopefully the Final Four.

Beam

I think beam will be okay with the current lineup. The gymnasts just need more reps and confidence.

Floor

I would love to see Reagan stay in this lineup! Her floor was gorgeous and she’s so elegant. My ideal lineup consists of Harrold/Desederio, Campbell, Ferrer, Kelley, Finnegan, & Edney. I like Edwards on floor, but she lacks difficulty. Lexie is also another great option, but I’d rather see her work on her Yurchenko 1.5 and bars rather than focus on floor. I would also have either Finnegan or Kelley as the anchor. Edney hasn’t performed well in the anchor spot after two weeks. OU, UCLA, and Florida all have excellent floor lineups! All of these teams can realistically count 5 scores of 9.90 or better...which worries me about LSU.

I know it’s just been two weeks but I’m a little worried after the Auburn meet. LSU looked ill-prepared and uninspired. I’ve never seen them have that many mistakes. I know Jay mentioned at LSU 101 that they’re about 3 weeks behind, but it seems they may be closer to 4-5...especially since Bailey just made it to campus. But I have faith in D-D, Jay, Bob, ACKT, & Gnat that they’ll get this team back on track.

I am sure the Tiger Nation is in agreement with your concerns after such a rough start for the season. This type of performance (if continued) will certainly dash any chance of another SEC Championship Title, a successful Regionals and Nationals.Hopefully, there will be significant improvement in time for the meet with Florida. It is really up to the girls to turn this around. The talent is certainly there for success.

Yes, certainly the talent is there! I just hated to see the girls lose like they did. It seemed McKenna’s injury dampened their spirits (as it did mine). Also, I think a loss like this can serve as a “wake up” call of sorts. LSU has literally ran through the SEC the past 2 years. The SEC has so much talent this year. This makes for healthy competition.
