LSU extended a massive offer on Friday, offering the nation’s No. 1 2025 overall prospect. Savannah (Ga.) Christian Prep defensive lineman Elijah Griffin announced an offer from the Tigers.

New LSU defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey was heavily recruiting the 6-4, 270-pounder while at South Carolina. Programs like Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and many others also checked on him this spring, but Georgia and South Carolina are the two to know early, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.

With Lindsey now at LSU, the Tigers are expected to factor in during his recruitment. The in-state Bulldogs trail the Gamecocks on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

He’s the only Five-Star Plus+ recruit on On3 in 2025, meaning he holds five-star status from the four major recruiting services: On3, 247, Rivals and ESPN.

Why was he interested in USCe? Was it Lindsey?

Awesome! Hopefully he can make it happen.

GA is one of the hardest states to recruit IMO…. you have to compete with UGA, Clemson, Bama, Auburn, UF, FL State, and others. It’s a battleground.

Not saying it'll be easy but Kirby's lost the top recruit in his state 5 out of last 6 years - all Top10 recruits.

One of them was Arik Gilbert.

He's lost a bunch to Auburn, Bama, Florida, Clemson, USCe, and a few good ones to us. Georgia is so loaded w/talent he obviously can afford to lose some really good ones without damage.

Kirby recruits Florida extremely hard. That's why he doesn't care if he loses som Georgia guys.

2023 of UGAs 11 top 93 overall guys, 8 came from Florida

2022 of UGAs 8 top 50 overall recruits, 4 came from Florida (3 were 5 stars)

2021 skip this year because it was 2020 covid and almost all their players were from Georgia for obvious reasons

2020 of UGAs 9 top 58 overall recruits, 3 came from Florida including one being 5 star Jalen Carter. Their top 12 players were from 7 different states and only 2 Georgia players were in UGAs top 15 recruits

2019 of UGA 9 top 98 overall recruits, 3 came from Florida, and only 2 came from Georgia

Basically speaking, Kirby recruits Georgia, but nowhere near as much as you think. He recruits Florida very hard. Also, UGA does absolutely nothing fancy on defense. Just like Bama when Kirby was there, there defense consists of having a completely unfair ridiculous amount of 5 star talents and high 4 star talents, smashed on top of each other.
