We have never come close to eclipsing a 92 average rating for any particular class.

We are generally between 90-91, usually no lower than 89 (although that hasn't happened in a while).

This 2020 class is breaking through that barrier and then some.

Average rating for the 19 LOIs
93.64

Add Bradford, McGlothern, Adams
93.28

Add Burch
93.56

For a perspective, their have been only 12 teams from 2002-2019 that have eclipsed 93.5.

Update: finished at 93.28.

It certainly helps when you don't take a K or P in the class

This class is elite and I think the next class will be elite as well. LSU is the new toy or the new girl in the neighborhood.

The most important piece of a class, other than filling needs, is quality and depth of the linemen. This class is full of elite defensive linemen. That is what separates teams. The Miles classes were always full of highly ranked skill players with not as many of highly ranked linemen.

O knows what it takes to have continued success and that is why people who think this year was a flash in the pan are completely wrong.

*edit* it's also very important to retain those highly regarded players. We've seen several SEC teams lose many 5 star guys.

I think O's success will be determined on the coaches that he hires. He's always been a good recruiter.

His coaching hires have been spot on for the last couple of years, so I'm not too worried about that.

The best thing about Coach O is that he finally let his coaches coach...without interfering too much. He's learned a lot since his Ole Miss days.

Yep. If you have a LS, P, & K all in the same class...your average is going to take a huge hit. It probably makes your team better, but it is what it is.

I wonder what the numbers are without CamRon Jackson and Lorando Johnson, as both of those players supposedly are not going to be included in this class.

Those numbers are without those two. Otherwise our number is 92.6 range.

It's a helpful measurement but not that important. You can sign all the highly ranked talent you want, but if you don't meet needs it doesn't matter.

Any rating system where signing the best kicker in the country brings DOWN your average, is questionable at best.

Hope LSU keeps coach Bush. He's a great recruiter on the West Coast.

Agreed. I do think we could have used another oline guy but oh well it looks like Crawford will not make it. Thankfully last year was okay and we have some guys who will get their feet wet this year. Fortunately the suspensions allowed several guys to play and getting Ed Ingram back was great. Need a good center and a replacement for Lewis (hopefully Hines & Kardell will be the guys). We will need a solid right tackle replacement after Deculus leaves. Maybe Martinez or Hill will develop into a stud.

I am more excited for the dline and personally think Roy will be the stud of this class. I see him being dominant like Quinnen Williams was for Alabama.
