Hey guys, its ok to admit this class isnt what we'd all like. Its also ok to acknowedge the possibility that consistently poor offense the past few years has potentially caught up with LSU a little bit and may make offensive recuiting more of a challenge.

that being said, this team is loaded for this year and next, and i expect at least 1 title, and if we do in fact air it out with the Mett, that will send a clear message to recuits that LSU isnt just all about defense.

not without getting thoroughly spanked on this board though.

its also ok to state that this is a pretty sub-par OOS recruiting staff.

LSU has always relied heavily upon state talent. This year is no exception, and the state is far from having its best crop of talent.

Collins, the most high profile player IMO, is leaving the state. By some accounts, the same thing happened with Trovon Reed, and by all accounts, the same thing happened with Joe McKnight. Given those circumstances, how can anyone be surprised with this year's class?

Is it because we've had so much success that you expect more? Why? For thirteen fourteenths of this past season, LSU has been mentioned as a possible GOAT team, ranked in the top 2, loaded with underclassmen that will keep it ranked as the preseason number one for 2012.

Did losing to Alabama 21-0 change that? Hell no. Still ranked preseason number 1. Yet, some of you idiots just can't figure out why America's best don't want to come compete with possibly the most talented roster out there, given that we don't usually get OOS talent in most years anyway.

I admit that I wish Collins was in the fold, but I will also admit that I let McKnight ruin the announcement of one of the finest classes to ever come through a college program. I'm not making that mistake again. This class fills needs, and is strong in an area we never have good fortune, LB.

I do think the class could use a small amount of positive momentum going into the spring, and would like to see even a small surprise come Feb. 1, but not because of any glaring percieved weakness of the group.

In conclusion, I would bet my left nut that Kiel never amounts to anything but a serviceable, adequate at best, QB at ND, if he ever actually sees significant playing time. LSU and Kiel will be glad that he stayed out of the SEC.

Since about 2002 LSU has averaged 5 players in Rivals top 100. This year is disappointing but hopefully offset by this class meeting team needs fairly well. Also 3 star players can be developed and pass up 5 star players. On the 2011 first team AP all American team there were 4 5-stars, 10 4-stars, and
11 3-stars. Yes, I would rather have a recruiting class full of 5 stars rather than 3 stars, but hopefully our 3 stars will develop well. Both Mo Claiborne and Brad Wing were 3 stars.

Our two deep is dominated by Sophs and RSFRESH

it is tough to recruit elite talent when you already are loaded with young elite talent

So they addressed needs with this class. Fine with me.

I look at it this way. frick Collins, we didn't need him. We need someone next year, not this year. However, I feel that another frick you should go out to Gunner Kiel. We didn't need him either. We have people who are preparing to play backup to Mett already, don't need another. Next year? Hell yeah, then we need a solid recruit at QB, but not this year.

If there was ever a time Lsu could afford a filler class, with little to no star power, but thick in quality guys who can start in two years, it's this year. We needed LBs, badly. Got them. What else did we honestly need? A full back? A kicker to get started? All you dumb fricks go find these guys who signed up and said,"Lsu is my school, I have the want to play for the Lsu fans." ..and tell them their recruiting class sucks. frick you, you suck. If you can do better, walk on, I heard we have a spot or two now.

People on this site are unbelievable. They can't handle someone saying anything critical about the program. They're like that parent that tells their child everything they do is great. Get a grip people this class in not impressive for a team that went 13-0 in the regular season. I also think some of these recruiting sites are probably off with their ratings but to not have one kid in the top 100 is ridiculous no matter how you try to explain it. If anyone thinks that the debacle that was the NC game did not hurt us is living in complete denial. Our coach has been looked at as a borderline goofball/genius gambler over the last 5 years. Well now they just see him as a goofball and a stubborn one at that he needs to right the ship and keep our top talent in state especially when its a down year with in-state talent and then pick up a few out of state guys along the way. Its ok to be critical of the way things went down if Les wasn't making 4MM a year then it would be easier to let it slide.

3-3 head to head record and best record of ANY coach in head to head says your perception is biased and inaccurate.

I still don't understand how people can be so short-sided and "*" happy that they call this class not impressive.

I we would've gotten LC, noone says anything about this class, because the "* ranking" of a player or players dictates how some people view our recruits and the class as a whole.

Feist and Edinburgh didn't become less talented becasue a site decided they were 3* instead of 4*

Lastly, Hill isn't being added in the ranking on at least 2 of the sites and tbh if he was a class of 2012 coming out of highschool he probably would've been the #2 recruit in the state and ranked in the top 50 overall on every site.

The only teams the get highly ranked recruiting classes are teams that get RBs, WRs, QBs. LSU got LB, OL and those don't come with 5*, they come with 4*. I wouldn't trade our stable of RBs at LSU right now for every 5* recruit coming out of highschool in 2012, even if it meant we would be sitting at #15-#20. 5 solid years of recruits brought us to a NCG and made us a favorite for Miami this year. This class adds to that group depth and talent to fill the biggest hole in our team, which was LB. Not QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, DL, S, or DB. The coaches have proven over the years, they know how to recruit players that win and most importantly they develop players once they get on campus.

Obviously some people have already made up their minds about this class, whether positive or negative. I for one, love the talent in this class. There is a nastiness to our LBs and potential Mingo-esque DEs that we recruited, that will leave all you negative people jumping up during games in the next few years when they get on the field and start laying the wood on opponents.

Go tell Miles to recruit 7 Russell Sheps then to boost our ratings. It's perfectly okay with me to let Miles and Co. go out and find the right guys to fill what we need. Until I can predict which players are little Honeybadgers, Brockers, Blues, Logans, and Mo's before they get to campus, then I have to.
