I think she is going to be a great gymnast but it’s funny everyone getting on Jay.

I am not mad him for going slow with Aleah this year. She was coming off many injuries from her elite days coming to LSU which she had some cleanup surgeries.

More upset with lineup management (settling on routines) and regression on bars the last few years.

Sarah fell her freshmen year as well (multiple times) during post season. She fell at SEC Championships and during super six on bars. Freshmen will make mistakes and can grow from it.

Except - that’s why we recruit the people we do. I think his management of the freshmen this season and last was a huge mistake, because they mostly got no experience on certain apparatus (eg Dunne on almost anything but bars and Aleah certainly in vault where we could have used her specially with alyona’s injuries this year and also bars because of the general disaster if that lineup as compared
to other top teams)

I am not saying it is not hard and/or a lot of pressure - but many other teams expect key routines from freshmen who were recruited for key routines (such as Aleah for AA) abs tigerbait, I do appreciate the injury management but at some point, if she is capable fi those vaults approximately two weeks after post season (or maybe 3) then she was able probably capable of them during

I concur. And if it were all about injury management why even compete at all and risk injury at this meet. If she did floor all season she could’ve done vault as well. Yes she is competing internationally, but even the commentary at this meet saying her goals are to compete in the states for LSU. And she’s doing the allaround and just watched the ceremony of her winning vault. Coaching coaching coaching. With the so called depth we had Aleah could’ve definitely been pulled from floor to compete vault especially when Alyona was out. The math ain’t mathin

I’m thinking it’s more about letting them adjust to school, doing gym, and actually allowing these girls to have a life and have a fun college experience. A lot of these girls’ lives have been nothing but gym for years, and I for one want them to have a great college experience.

eta: everyone keeps talking about bars and beam being our weaknesses but the last 2 years those 2 events have been our strengths scoring wise except in post season and I think most of that has to do with lineup selections and depth.

The problem with beam is specific to post season. In general they have been fine during the regular season but beam has sunk us the last two years during post season having to deal with multiple falls/major breaks. That goes back to handling pressure.

Bars was our lowest ranked event this year #10. The only routine IMO that made progress was Bryant and its due to her finally having a dismount she can stick. The other routines were pretty much the same or maybe slightly worse. I know Dunne has had some nagging injuries and we lost Kai but the lineup as a whole still needs a lot of work. Still have too many routines with dismount issues and I don't think Elena is someone who can be mainstay here. It is due to her pak salto and dismount issues. Her handstands are great but those other parts are pretty significant deductions.

Hopefully they make adjusts to that this offseason. Beam will look very different next year with a lot of new faces. In terms of bars we gotta get more 9.9+ scoring and address some of the dismount issues. The unfortunate part if you can have very good routines but a bad dismount takes you into the 9.85-9.875 range. I do think adding Cowan and having Jeffrey can help here next season. How they develop Aleah also will be important.

We are going to have a lot of competition next year. The incoming Bama recruits are all very strong. I just get the sense that plenty of teams are moving forward in the right direction and we are pretty much stagnating, despite the talent.

I was looking at the level 10 scores from the championships this weekend and only saw Ashley Cowan and Bryce Wilson's scores. Did Annie Beard, Lily L. and Kylie Coen drop out or are there injuries?

Annie competed but didn't do good

Lilly had surgery and didn't compete the back end of the season and Coen competed may like twice this season after dealing with a injury

Let's hope they recover before heading to LSU. We've had recruits with injury issues for the past 3 seasons.

By the way, check out Lily Smith (Bama Commit). She is reminiscent of Nastia with the long legs, an incredible toe point and artistry. She is touted highly for Bama.

Duckworth resigned from Bama.
Pretty big bombshell. If I'm Georgia, I'd be hot after her she is exactly what they need to save that program.

Hell, I would probably trade Jay for her.

Yes, just saw this? This seems like huge news and there has to be something behind it (I wonder if those racial allegations from a few years ago came home to roost? People seemed upset those were kind of swept under the rug) Still, they have had a pretty phenomenal few seasons, so this is very surprising.

And they have a stellar class coming in. Timing seems a little off. Pretty sure they’ll get a great coach.

Would love for Jay to go poach some of their incoming recruits.

Also, Courtney Kupets still hasn’t been fired at UGA so I doubt Duckworth is going there

If it were anyone else but CKC, she would be gone by now. I can’t see any rationale keeping her.

The gymnasts clearly don’t like her (as evidence by the retirement posts), they continue to regress and she threw the assistants under the bus

All this drama with Duckworth. She was at L10 Nationals last week so something happened very suddenly.

It made me have a dream last night that LSU was bringing in Yoculan to be Co-Head Coach with Jay. Lol

Are the Alabama recruits who are already signed allowed to change commitment now?
