LSU was disrespected all night by the ESPN narrative focusing on Florida (and I hope Jay uses it as motivation for the team that people don't respect them), but they got the last laugh with the win.
In Roethlisbergers defense, he has been a huge LSU fan all season (and for years really). No other commentator compliments LSU ingeneral like he does. I really enjoy when he calls the meets.

Well as expected Chio got sec foty. I was a surprised at goty and coty to be honest. Thought it should have been Wong’s or Torres’. Love Jordan but Faith was better this year. Also thought Georgia coaches should have won coach.

COTY made sense to me given the records broken by Mizzou this season but I can also see the argument for Georgia, though that one is harder to swing because of the history and legacy of that program in general than they’re trying to live up to. But as for GOTY, I completely agree with you that it made no sense. Faith and Audrey were statistically better than Jordan all year and the rankings show that. Even their freshman Pederson is just about the same if not slightly better than Bowers on vault this year, but being in the leadoff spot, she doesn’t have the benefit of getting the bigger scores on that event that Bowers would get if she sticks

Agree, and I didn’t see any disrespect towards LSU at all! In fact, I would almost say it was the opposite. I felt like the commentators showed LSU a lot of love! I know Aly and Taylor are big fans, as well as John. I don’t think it was intentional or done out of disrespect that we missed the first part of Haleigh’s floor. She is the queen in all their books!

Lincoln officially out for the rest of the season. I hope Konnor or KJ can be ready for floor in case any of the current 6 can’t go. Not sure who is #7 on vault with Chase and Lincoln out

Was Kaliya injured when she got here, or did she injure her shoulder in the season?
Posted on 4/3/25 at 12:14 am to TigerFan112
I believe she had some nagging injuries. However, I posted after a meet a few weeks ago questioning whether she had an issue with her shoulder, because she vaulted that day but was then scratched from floor. I wondered whether she hurt her shoulder because on espn it looked like she had her arm wrapped up in a team huddle…so my general guess is that this is something that is more acute given her absence from lineups since then.

Yeah I thought she came in with Achilles issues, don’t remember hearing about the shoulder until more recently

Well I just had to get Hulu package for the month just to watch this. Sucks that sling sports package doesn’t support espn+.

I hate that we are going to be in the regional final with both Kentucky and Arkansas…I am hoping Arkansas gets their good gymnastics out tonight, so we will only have to contend with mich state and Kentucky on the actual day of … because while they are being over scored, Arkansas is having a day.
Edit: this was before their beam rotation, but my comment still holds, especially if they are spurred on by the unfortunate injury to Frankie Price - and there is no differentiating between our superior execution and theirs (eg Joscelyn’s form should not outscore Kailin, Haleigh, and especially Konnor when they are on and stick - thank goodness Aleah scored her).

I agree! There was way too much hype for ARKY last night. Our girls were low balled on a number of routines. I'm grateful that they rose above it and hope they will be on with their best performance on Saturday.

I’m not used to seeing so many 9.9s given out for unstuck landings across the board at regionals where there are 4 judges. Judges have sure relaxed relative to earlier this season. I think we should have no problem going thru on Saturday as long as not counting a fall.

Was wondering about Kaliya. Didn't realize she was injured.
Had high hopes for her this year but I think they need to tone her stuff down a bit. She was doing olympic gymnastics, not college. She would have these incredible vaults with high difficulty but have big hops like it was olympic scoring. Have to tune her stuff down like they did with Konnor.
As good as kylie and Sierra have been, I honestly would like to have KJ and especially Konnor on the floor. I don't see them taking Sierra out but I think our best floor lineup has Konnor in it.
I legit am already excited for next years team. It's going to have a completely different look to it but I'm excited to see Knnor (hopefully), Kylie, Kaliya, and Lexi's extended role. I'm assuming Zoe as well?

About next year, I was wondering if we might see Cowan on anything besides bars. She’s so good on bars, it would be nice to see her in other rotations. Or is she strictly a bars specialist?

She has a solid 1.5 on vault that she was training last year. I’m hoping we’ll get to see it

I think at one point Jay mentioned in a press conference she was ready to go on beam and floor as well, if needed

Had high hopes for her this year
She came in injured, so I was hoping she would redshirt. Really think they need to work on the double since can’t control that 1 and 1/2 consistently. Her floor is fine and not really nearly as hard as she can do.

I have never understood why they didn’t red shirt her - given her bouncy vaults and limited floor I think she had a counting score 3-4 times. It’s seems like a waste of her talent this year.
