This team just needs to get healthy. Also missing is Coen who Jay said all preseason was expected to be a regular in the beam lineup.
We are still missing a bunch of our best routines in spots. And obviously the development of our freshmen/sophomore classes is important for the long term with a lot of seniors leaving after this year.

I am very happy with our performance at this meet! It's exciting to have a lineup of six 10 SV vaults. I could see Bryant replacing Zeiss (more consistency with soft knees) or Lincoln (better form and higher potential with too much power) by mid-season at the latest. KJ will be a great backup for the vault lineup with her full being so consistent. Konnor said that vault is the next event she thinks she'll be ready for, so I'm interested if she can break into the lineup.
I thought bars were slightly underscored for us; however, we had some strong routines today (Cowan, Chio, and Konnor). I think Dunne will be replaced in the lineup by Bryant once she is healthy. Also curious if Zeiss can hold on to the leadoff spot with Jeffery having more experience.
Beam was a little shaky but I'm not too worried. I think Bryant missed her connection for her leap series, could see that being her lowest score this season. Some uncharacteristic wobbles from Chio and Konnor too. I think Coen will eventually replace Dunne in that two spot.
The floor lineup will probably have the most changes by the end of the season. It was very unlucky for KJ to sprain her ankle in podium training. I will expect her and Bryant to be in the latter half of the lineup once they are healthy. I am crossing my fingers for Konnor to be lineup-ready by the postseason so she can take the leadoff (no matter how much I love Sierra's floor, she will not score high consistently). I could also see Coen breaking into the lineup once her knee is fully healed. Super excited to be in the PMAC next week!

I think today was great but I still think even with these girls we could have scored higher with some lineup order changes. Vault was good. Bars and beam need some changes. I’m not quite sure why we haven’t moved Cowan (the sec bars champ) down in the lineup. Why is livvy smack dab in the middle of both of these lineups? I love her but she is a leadoff or second at best. Definitely need to move chio back in the lineups because she could score really high in all with the exception of floor.
When Haleigh and kj come back I think you could move chio second. I still want to see kj anchor floor at least one time this year so she can get her dang ten, but their is no better floor in college than Aleah’s right now. I would actually like to see kj in the 5th spot and Haleigh in the 4th. Is that crazy?
I’m not sure if we see Konnor on floor or vault this year especially if we don’t necessarily need her. Don’t want to push her too fast because we definitely need her next season.

Us too Carly. Although I think some of their scores were too high compared to some of ours. Neff’s vault at 9.925 was too high compared to chio’s stick vault. Grace’s 9.975 on bars. Meh

One judge gave Chio a 9.800 on beam

I think the beam judges were harsh in their scoring. It was almost as if they used the Oklahoma beam rotation to set the standard. I saw some wobbles and steps that were overlooked during the OK beam rotation. I did not care for OK's choreography on floor. Some of it was on the bizarre side. It will be so good to get Haleigh and KJ back in the floor lineup.

It always seems that Oklahoma Meets have more lenient judging than any other meets. Look at these scores!!
Leaderboard
Event Gymnast Team Score
Vault Jocelyn Moore University of Missouri 9.975
Bars Audrey Davis *University Of Oklahoma 9.950
Beam Helen Hu University of Missouri 10.000
Floor Jordan Bowers *University Of Oklahoma 9.975
All-Around Audrey Davis *University Of Oklahoma 39.725

Coen looked good on beam, wouldn't have been able to tell it was her first competitive routine. Very stable and calm routine.
Zeiss really needs to do a tucked 1.5. I expressed doubts about her form issues last year and some posters here thought it would get better with the transition to college but it hasn't really. All her twisting elements are problematic. Her bars are ok though. It is a shame, I think her injuries in 2024 and the push for the Olympics have really had a negative impact. If you look at her elite videos from 2023 the form is much better in exactly the same skills.
Glad that we are seeing a good range of different routines this year; there seems to be a high level of competition for lineup spots which is very nice to see after some of the super injury filled seasons we had over the last few years.
That being said, I am not sure why Jay hasn't redshirted Lincoln. She is obviously SO talented and so powerful but also clearly not healthy enough for a full competition season this year. Again I guess the Olympic push really took a toll. Not sure I see the point of just having her for vault

Re: Lincoln
Jay said in the press conference Friday night that Lincoln is really close on floor. I am not sure how close though. We need someone to replace Ballard and Dunne in the floor lineup if KJ can’t go. KJ’s ankle/foot was a problem towards the end of her JO years. This is the same foot she broke a few years ago. Chase is a good option but I feel Lincoln can possibly score higher than her.
If I had to guess, I think Jay is shooting for this final floor lineup come postseason:
Lincoln, Drayton, Chio, Johnson, Finnegan, Bryant
Alternates: Ballard, Brock, Dunne, Coen

Ballard is fine on floor tbh, if it weren’t for Konnor going down she would obviously be lead off still. Dunne getting better scores than Ballard is purely because of position in the routines and not the actual routines themselves in my opinion.
As far as post season lineup, my dream scenario is Lincoln, Drayton, KJ, Chio, Finnegan and Bryant but much of Lincoln comes down to her health and if she is getting the reps she needs in practice to be competition ready

Personally I am happy with Ballard on floor too. I just think Dunne's ring jumps are going to be a problem when we have so many eyes on the routines postseason. But she is a good depth option to have to rest some others during regular season.
Just watched the conference with Jay and super happy to hear that about Lincoln possibly being in floor. Our lineups for floor now are good, but they could be even better

I'm all in on Coen on beam. She didn't make me nervous when she was on. She's gonna have her mistakes and falls that is ok, but you can't teach the poise she showed. hitting 1st routine at home vs. Florida is big stuff.
Ballard, Coen, Chio, Konnor HB, Aleah is the beam rotation if everybody is healthy and I would take into postseason.
Lincoln's vault should be a double it is getting progressively more out of hand. I expect her to take Ballard's lead off spot on floor once she is healthy and KJ is back. I would REALLY love to see him shuffle the floor order I would go Lincoln, Drayton, HB, Chio, Aleah, KJ. HB and Aleah are automatic and their place in the lineup doesn't matter in terms of their own score, but putting girls after them who need a little boost to that next level in scoring would make a difference.
I'm a firm believer in 6 x 10.0 vaults so I don't miss KJ's single, but I just wish Brock and Lexie could seize that brass ring and super hit to take the spot from her.
We will see where things are at on valentines day vs. Oklahoma that is the next litmus test. Even with a lineup on the mend and mistakes, they beat pretty much Florida's A lineup. Overall I really like their chances this year they are not peaking early which is always a concern with any team. There is room to get better which is what you want. They have what it takes to beat Oklahoma best-on-best.

Anyone else with Neff’s double ankle sprain, think Utah is kind of out of contention completely for nationals. No Neff, (she’d be silly to try to come back for just post season), no Jayden. They seem to be having a us 20’ or 21’ year. This will really test how good of a coach Carly is. That was the year jay sold me as our coach. When he still got us to nationals all taped up and broken when no one gave us a chance. Feel bad for Utah but mostly avery. Isn’t this what keeps giving kj her issues?

It sounds like KJ will return to the vault lineup according to Jay in the interview.
Utah got a 197.95 at the "Best of Utah Meet" today without Avery Neff. Neff has two severely sprained ankles from Utah's Friday night meet and will be out for a lot of the season according to social media.

Yay…question mark. Does this mean no more Lexie, Lincoln, or chase? Either way we need her on floor not vault.

Something changed in this program the night Kiya was carried off the floor at Kentucky. They realized they couldn't just count on a couple of hammers to get them through. . When Kiya came out of the dressing room to cheer her teammates on , despite her disappointment knowing she was done for the season and maybe her career The Climb began. Three days later they took the number one team in the country to the wire. They hung together despite so many injuries and made it to the Finals.
