nope....nope....nope not getting my hopes up on a 5 star DE we get in on late. Nope not happening
this well-earled defense would love a speed edge rush, but big boys to push in the middle is absolutely critical.

Are we offering later or are they considering us late in the process. Not good if we offer late but sounds good if he's considering us this late.

+1 I agree

Sam Montgomery was a nsd pull as was pp7, but not holding my breath. To my knowledge Jernigan was never a silent commit. Always Fsu.

Every starter on LSUs defensive front four for the last 10-12 years has played in the NFL if I am not mistaken (excluding players still on the roster currently - that will also get their respective shot in the league).

I was thinking about "Big Sam" as Les called him after NDS. LSU has a shot.

His comments from a recent interview did not sound very positive for us, but I wouldn't count us completely out. I really like his athleticism for a big guy and would love for him to sign with this class.

I watched the interview and found that, in general, all of his comments about the various schools would best be characterized as guarded. Facial expressions were slightly more animated when speaking about UGA.
I sensed nothing negative that would lead me to believe LSU is not a player. We are more than a hat on the table as others have opined.
Seems like a nice kid just going through the selection process. Would be awesome to land him.

Hope so but think it's more smoke and mirrors by media

Really this is the best way to go about thinking about it. We hear similiar things all the time about recruits that don't end up at LSU. Maybe we're in a little better shape than we were with NKemdiche last year since we actually got LC's parents to visit.
But for my fragile psyche, I will believe it when it happens. Bad thing is we're not his last visit.

The well-oiled NFL machine that is LSU’s defense is one of the biggest draws for the No. 1 recruit in the state of Georgia.
But, but... Everyone on The Rant says this is the downfall of our program!!!

I think it really comes down to this for Zo Carter....
business decision -- LSU runs a 4-3 and has a very proven track record with a solid on-ramp to the NFL. One of the few, clear advantages LSU has over UGA (3-4 defense).
defensive coaching staff -- LSU and UGA probably a wash here, unless Brick/Chavis make that special connection with Zo. And it would be partly special because of the confidence in his business decision aspect.
Decision hinges on how much Zo emphasizes these 2 items compared to others (proximity to his home, childhood team, what mamma wants).
In other words, LSU has a shot. I don't anyone on this board has a clue how much of a shot.

this is a business decision
LSU is in the business of preparing young athletes for the NFL
all he needs to do is look at Kiki Mingo to see his potential.
So is UGA. We have 43 active players on NFL rosters right now.

Or a Ray Drew, a Mingo-sized DE who was labeled a lean to UGA, flirted with LSU, then ended up at UGA where everyone initially expected him to end up.
Now in a positive light, Nkemdiche's face lit up when LSU was mentioned in interviews which I thought was pretty telling at the time up until the Ole Miss-has-the-lead rumors came out. So if Carter looks happy when he talks about Georgia, basically, it don't mean shite.

No doubt about it, Carter comes to LSU, it will be the best signing of the year. Sorry Buga Nation but this would be a great foundation for years to come (Stealing the #1 recruit from GA)
