So what's this guys impact this year. I see he listed as a top 40 player for 2022.

We thinking he gets some decent mins this year? Not a star chaser, but 247 says he 20th best all time commits.

He has the scoring ability to contribute some on that end of the court, but with his size (weight/mass), this will more than likely be a development year with him getting some rotational minutes at the guard position, but mostly in special situations like fouls on primary guards.

No excuses for the Pear this year.

Like someone else said, when has he or anyone really ever made excuses for their performance?

But more importantly, what exactly about their performance under Wade have you felt cheated by? The guy won the conference in yr 2 and went to the Sweet 16 the same year. Made it to 2nd round last year after another top 3 conference finish and brought the team further in the SEC tournament than they had been in a very, very long time.

And fyi, a different team has won the SEC each of the past 4 years, with LSU and Wade being one of those teams. And only Kentucky has won multiple times in the past 6 years; so it's not like everyone else is outperforming LSU or Wade.

Agreed. There is so much parity in MBB especially the SEC so it’s not like they’re gonna win nattys every year. And the setup of the NCAAT is tough as well. Let’s just enjoy the ride as we have been and see what happens now that we have full stables.

I should not have used words "no excuses". What I was trying to reference was to the SEC and nation watch out.

We got a stacked team and the Gangsta leading us.

You shouldn’t back off that last season was a pretty big disappointment with the players on the roster

I thought the team overachieved after that big from Washington sketched out, O’Neal got hurt, and Manning went to portal

Are you serious?
3rd in SEC
Missed tip in from SEC Tournament Title
Got a horrible seeding draw in NCAA tournament and gave Michigan all they could handle.

You think last year met expectations, after Wade was able to get Smart, Watford and Days all back for another year? On top of Cameron Thomas? lol.

He had continuity which is something you rarely ever get in CBB, veteran talent, and one of the most explosive freshmen scorers in the nation.

3rd in a down SEC

8 seeded tournament team

with 4 all conference-caliber players?

i love this roster coming into this year. But if Wade couldn't coach-up talented guys that had played together for years, i often wonder how he is going to mesh 10 guys who have never played together. This is both his most talented roster ever, and his hardest coaching job ever.

Saying the SEC last year was down is misleading

Arky and Bama reached heights that haven't been seen in their respective programs in years. Not to mention Tennessee, UF, and Mizzou who were all solid tourney teams. Top to bottom the sec was as deep as just about every conference sans the B1G.

Just because Kentucky didn't win 30 games doesn't mean the sec was "down"

SEC was 4th in conference RPI

Kentucky & Auburn were both bad.

LSU lost 3x to Alabama. They lost both of their big out of conference games. They left the season without a true signature win.

Will Wade's plan was poor last year with the talent he had on that tem. It is ok to say that.

It's funny, I just read this post before reading who wrote it and after reading the a-holishness in the post I just knew it was Lester Earl. How can that possibly be?

Rarely? Are you really thinking like everyone is like Kentucky? Not the case at all.

Did you see who bounced us in the NCAAT? Michigan played 4 seniors and a junior among 8 guys who got minutes against us. It's not like it was hugely disappointing or surprising. They went on to the E8 only to lose by 2 points to a team who went to OT in the F4. The Baylor team that won the NC started 3 juniors and 2 seniors in the national title game.

We have way less "continuity" than a lot of teams in NCAAB.

not on last year's roster

outside of Emmitt Williams, he retained everyone that was a threat to leave school early. Which has been an issue under Wade.

You want to compare to Michigan, and still say that they didn't underachieve? Cause that makes no sense.

The talent on last year's team was much better than every ranking metric the team could be measured by.

I am not into blowing smoke

Wish i could pinpoint the Wade interview from this summer where he admits the same. Especially his comments about reeling in Cam Thomas that I said all last year.

The league is never elite, but Kentucky has been a top 5 team for a decade, and Auburn under Pearl the last 3 years have been a machine. And both were crap last year. The SEC was there for the taking and LSU was a very distant 3rd place from the top 2 teams, despite having equal or better talent.

We brought back five players from the roster from the previous year lester.

The Five:
Charles Manning
Javonte Smart
Darius Days
Aundre Hyatt
Trendon Watford

And Charles Manning quit after like 3 weeks into the season. He was also the only senior on the roster. So probably not the best argument that we had some super deep veteran returning roster. The team last year was EXTREMELY top heavy, with only 3 of the returning 5 guys even really being very good. After our top 4 best player last year, it was a gigantic dropoff for the most part down to #5-#8 guys. Largely made up of freshmen or newcomers in general.

I mean if you REALLY want to Leblanc who didnt play in 19-20 among his late transfer here, you got 6 guys he returned. Returning 6 guys is not something "oh wow thats amazing" continuity territory.

I was comparing to Michigan in the sense they were loaded with veteran players man. They had 5 seniors who played a lot on that roster, we had 0. Michigan went to the E8 where they barely lost. Not sure how that's so massively "disappointing" for a team like that to end our season.

And other teams stepped up in their place. You cant call the whole conference down because of 2 teams. You have to look at it as a whole. As a whole the SEC being 4th in RPI should tell you that's usually on the BETTER end for the SEC as we've lived in that 4-6 spot forever basically. Did you even bother to look up other years? So your notion that 4th place for the SEC is "a down year" for the conference is just silly.

I mean you act like Tennessee, Arkansas and Bama weren't either great or talented teams or something

Why should we have expected to win the conference, Alabama was CLEARLY a better team than us, we lost to them 3x. It's not like they were mince meat or something. They lost in overtime to a team who went to the F4 in the NCAAT. Arkansas lost in the NCAAT to the team who won the national title. Tennessee disappointed in the NCAAT (we finished ahead of them in SEC still), but they were certainly very talented.

LSU didn't have any depth issues all year. They had mismanagement issues. Starting with how Wade managed Cam Thomas. He admits to this this offseason on Jordy's show. I am not sure what else to tell you if you think they got optimal results based on the talent level of that team

I think Wade has by and large done a great job at LSU, and I am very happy with him.

I think he has his most talented AND most balanced roster lined up for this season. Looking forward to seeing it play out.
