Can I answer this at about 2 p.m. today?

Yeah. I have a feeling alot of it depends on today as well.

I hope he's talking about Norvel Pelle & Shavon Coleman.
Pelle is prep...
Now I see someone already made note of that.

Guess the answer is he will be here next year now?

While I don't think the Arkansas game, in and of itself, was a must win, the victory could mean an NIT berth. As sad as that sounds, it may be enough to keep him.

If you go back and read what almost everyone said would be a good season and enough for him to stay prior to the year. We hit the majority of the statements. I feel people raised them as they saw we could sneak in to the tournament.

I said he needed to go 8-8 in the SEC. We went 7-9, so if he is fired, I will support that. However, I won't be livid if he isn't fired.

This team is quietly starting to gel and with insignificant pieces leaving due to seniority, they can only get stronger. JOB3 seems to be taking over the spotlight now with Hickey and Stringer complementing.
Now if he can land some recruits that are worth a sh#@, then I'll support him fully.

I said .500 in the SEC (8-8) and/or NCAA tournament or bust. We're looking like bust.

Unfortunately, we don't get a say in the matter.

If he was going to be fired, there would have been smoke for the past week. I don't think Alleva is even going to consider it.

Just added Barnett Harris to the 2012 board. I've heard he may have an offer. Has some nice youtube video and looks like a nice prospect. He is an unranked 6-10 power forward from Pittsburgh with offers from Duquesne where his father played, and Penn State, among others.

Offers from Central Michigan, Duquesne, Eastern Michigan, James Madison, Kent State, Penn State, Rider and Robert Morris.
Sounds like a scrub, actually. But at this point you've got to be happy about anybody Trent signs.

Schools way better than LSU sign 6-10 projects all the time. Didn't you just advocate the recruitment if Jaleel Cousins?

Bubba, are we a lock with Hammick? Seems like a diamond in the rough, would love to have him on the team especially after Billy D offered.

interesting
saw this on espn's recruiting site -
he is considered the #6 player in the pittsburgh area by pittsburghbasketballreport.com (sheldon jeter #1)
only watched a little of that video, he needs to get stronger and work on his low post game, kinda looks awkward trying to maneuver on the block (kinda like malcolm white) he has a nice touch. he'd definitely play next season with storm and white leaving. doesn't appear to be as athletic as chris johnson but looks more ready than dennis harris did coming out of hs.
i would definitely call him a project but he'd only be a role player at best next season. id prefer a guy who can come in and bang but i'd still take this kid if they feel like they have a spot for him.

Strengths:
Barnett likes to float on the perimeter where he is a good shooter with range to 20 feet. He is a very good catch and shoot weapon on the perimeter.
Weaknesses:
He can score some on the post but is not strong enough to hold his position versus strong post defenders.

Interesting indeed.
Now I feel good about Hammick, now all we need is a defensive post player like preferably Pelle

That ESPN report is from early in his junior year, so its a little dated. I didn't really see any outside shooting in his highlights. What I did see is a guy with size and some ability, even though he is raw.
If this is the only post player LSU signs, that won't be good. If he joins 1 or 2 others and isn't expected to contribute too much next year, I would be happy with that. I think he could handle Malcolm White's minutes.

I advocated going after Cousins because of (1) his bloodlines, (2) getting a foot in the door in Mobile wouldn't hurt this program one bit, (3) he's one of the most improved players in the country and as such is probably a lot better player than he's rated and (4) he's 265 pounds and could give you a physical presence off the bench.
The problem with taking a stringbean like this guy is that he's probably no more physical than Ludwig inside next year. You don't need somebody who can come in and beat out Hamilton or O'Bryant; you need somebody who can get some rebounds, hold his ground under the goal and give you five fouls. Besides, Jarrell Martin and Pancake Jones are both athletic, skinny 6-8/6-9 big men who can give you the style this guy does and they'll be priorities next year (unless Trent is batshit crazy).
From a program management standpoint Cousins would make a lot more sense, if his grades are OK (and I don't know that to be the case at this point though I haven't heard otherwise).
