I don't even know where we would add. We are two deep everywhere. Maybe LHP.

Jay is about to be on MLB network

Simon never scrimmaged in the fall did he? Just damaged goods there maybe?

I'm not sure if he scrimmaged, but he was trying to make a pretty miraculous comeback.

I wonder if he just decided to give up baseball.

Simon said it was his dream to take the mound for LSU at least one time or something along those lines. This was back in the fall. I was excited when he made the roster because I figured he would have his shot. So it sucks if he is no longer on the roster. Definitely feel bad for him.

Simon had gotten into really good physical and mental shape. I think the hope was that his arm would cooperate after some time away from baseball. I'm not certain of this, but I'd imagine that his arm just never really cooperated.
I hate it for him. Seemingly great kid, great teammate, and such a damn good talent in high school.
If we add, I believe it will be an arm. You can never have enough pitching. I wouldn't hate some more position player depth, as greedy as that sounds. Outfield seems pretty full but another RH bat off the bench or defensive sub wouldn't hurt. The infield is not quite as full. Behind Milam, Dickinson, and Braswell is alot of inexperience. I love Reaves and he's got some lower college experience, but then you have John Pearson, Mikey Ryan, and Hogg. I love them, too, but they're young.

Jay is on the Andy Cannizzaro training program. Coach looks ready to go.

Jay's media day press conference is about to start

Thanks for the headsup. I keep missing his answers because of work though.

How'd the presser go? Anything juicy?
Posted on 1/24/25 at 2:37 pm to DRock88
Nothing really juicy.
Talked about Milam and Braswell splitting SS/3B reps to try and figure out where they best fit.
Talked about stretching out 8 arms as potential starters which from memory of this interview and others are the pretty obvious names:
Guidry
Anderson
Eyanson
Shores
Cowan
Ware
Evans
Schmidt
From another interview I saw somewhere I think he hinted the front runners were Anderson, Eyanson and Shores as far as Fri,Sat,Sun

I think tandem starting Shores and Cowan could be pretty effective. Difference styles, different release heights, different repertoires, etc.
Could be good to have a volume guy backing up a guy that will still be getting his legs under him early in the season.

Juco target we seem to be getting close on is Caleb Deer from Kansas City Kansas JC. 6’7” LHP that touches 97. We’ve been targeting several juco lefties, he looks like the closest to being in the boat.

Tall lefty throwing 97 yes please, even if he gives us 1-2 IP a week would help long term

Oklahoma, A&M, Tennessee, and South Carolina are all after him as well.

Just so I’m understanding, we’re looking at him for this spring? When is deadline to add/drop classes?

Not the LHP. The spring addition was in reference to a different guy. But I’d be surprised if it happens anywhere though.
