So, if you had to take a wild guess, what kind of chance might LSU have to get a commitment from Avridson?

It doesn't sound like it's very high from those that usually are pretty accurate about these things.

I had mentioned a month ago not to sleep on the possibility of Bear being sold on 3B to raise his stock ala Tommy and Berry. This would also make sense why we added Hernandez, Beck and Yamin even if we felt good about Bear returning. T14 thinks this may be explored as well. Not saying its absolutely going to happen, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Bear was playing 3rd a decent amount during fall ball when Tommy was hurt last year. If he gets some time at 3B, the offensive lineup you can put out there looks absolutely scary (maybe the defense does too, but still).

That’s very interesting. He’s got plenty of pitchers going in that range, but Schmidt is rated higher than them.

Very interesting hypothesis. I think it actually makes more sense for him at 3rd vs catcher.
I guess a follow up thought would be what the hell happens with the middle infield between Dickinson/Bras/Milam if that were to happen.

Dickinson was sold on coming by playing or at least battling for SS

So Bear at 3B, Dickinson SS, Milam 2B, Hernandez 1B, Beck DH. You can fill the OF out however you want. It’s stacked no matter how you slice it.

Man I’ll be happy with either Jones or Herring coming back. I don’t know who’s more valuable. Gotta be pitching right?

Herring probably has more impact being a candidate as a Friday starter. But losing jones power is hard to replace

I think our pitching is farther ahead than the lineup talent wise so i’d prefer Bear back. It’s all opinionated

I do expect him back. I think he’s in the mix certainly for every day SS with Dickinson at 3B. But he could also be backup at every INF position. I just wouldn’t surprised if they have had conversations with Bear as a 3B. Jay has proven he likes a monster bat there and he’s not afraid to somewhat punt defense. It’s not as far fetched as some may believe.

I don’t think it’s far fetched at all. Seems like a real possibility with the way you’ve put that together
Still, I’d feel real comfy if the infield looked like this:
1b jones
2b Milam
SS Bras
3rd Dickinson

I think that’s gets a good mix of bats in the lineup, continuity, and the potential for some really good defense.

I don’t love the idea of having freshmen who significantly contributed turning into role guys behind portal gets in their sophomore year so I hope we find a spot for Larson. I want Frey to get some chances as well.
That leaves Yamin, Hernandez, and beck potentially fighting for the 2nd or 3rd string DH spot.

I also think you have to try and find roles for freshmen some how to keep at least a few guys in the program for 2-3 years. It’s a great problem to have but Jay has some juggling on his hands if this draft works out like some of us think it could.
