I refuse to correct it.

Are we on any of the other top SS in the 25 class? They still have 2 uncommitted - Sean Gamble and Brady Ebel. I don't think Quentin Young sticks at SS even if he makes it to campus. I know Ruckert is in the class, but I'd like to keep stockpiling middle infielders.
To follow up on this, Baseball America reported yesterday that Brady Ebel recently visited LSU, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

Ryan was mentioned by Shooter Hunt on the D1 Baseball podcast about recruiting classes as a guy LSU fans could start getting excited about due to the likelihood of getting to campus.
He could have just been looking at the Louisiana angle and not have inside signability info.

Damn. I hate that list.

We're gonna get a ton of these guys to school, cause that's what Jay Johnson does, apparently.

Now why would he go do a thing like that?

Hope he doesn't allow a run in his last 2 years of highschool and goes in the top 5

D1 Baseball did a feature on draft eligible sophomores. Jones, Kling, and Guidry all got write ups. Herring got a mention as another one to watch.
The most interesting thing to me was the write up on Guidry:
I still think there is a non-zero chance that he gets some earnest starts on the mound this season. Not just opener type starts. His pitches have characteristics that some orgs look for in starter candidates.
The most interesting thing to me was the write up on Guidry:
quote:
Gavin Guidry, RHP, LSU- Guidry’s ultra-athletic and projectable, 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame had the scouting community split on his highest upside out of high school- on the mound or at shortstop, and ultimately pushed him to Baton Rouge to shake things out even after some considerable interest and money offered. His ease of movement on the dirt provided for some early opportunities in ‘23 as a position player, but his biggest impact in the Tigers’ national title run came on the mound. Even while the program continues to entertain his dual-threat abilities this fall, Guidry’s biggest value at the professional level is now apparent on the mound where his short, quick arm and arsenal, combined with the ability to generate whiffs, elicit similarities to former LSU great, and current Detroit Tigers closer, RHP Alex Lange.

Maybe. I don't see him as one of the guys that Jay stretches out in the spring to prep for a starter's role, but it is possible.

Lange is an interesting comp. I can't say that I've ever thought that but, upon further review, I guess I could see it.

The spike curve and hard slider do look similar in their downward action and how they bury hitters.

The staff definitely thinks he has starting potential and are exploring that option.

they have thought that for a while.
its become very apparent he isnt getting any better hitting, pitching is his future.

I just noticed that big time Texas 2025 player Luke Billings decommitted from Tennessee a couple weeks ago. We were in on him before, I assume we still are.

bummer, was hoping that his brother might help us snag the one-time vandy commit

Kind of a head scratcher. I assumed he was coming here when he decommited.
