Crazy thing is we would have made Omaha had we closed out a 9th inning….

Looked at 2025 draft outlook, Devin Taylor staying at Indiana is a tragedy for baseball.

I have a hard time seeing Larson in the OF if he can slide to 1B or DH. Especially with Curiel coming in. You need to get his bat in the lineup to take his lumps and gain his experience. It’s a bonus if he has a freshman season like Milam or Larson.

Reaves will be an option in OF or possibly 3B

So I am saying doomsday lineup:

1B Yamin
2B Pearson
SS Milam
3B Reaves
OF Curiel
OF Stanford
OF Brown
DH Larson
C Frey?

This would be if Priester, Braswell, Ryan, Fountain, and Hernandez, Cowan and Hatdenall get drafted and sign.

Shores, Sheerin, Anderson starting rotation?

don’t love it but it could be scrappy

I'd put Kade Anderson in the weekend rotation

edited because so would i

the draft needs to get here because there are some borderline HS guys that could absolutely be pieces next year and then guys like Herring and Jones. How high do they go?

I dont think it’s insane to try for something better than a 4-5 round.

So that’s doomsday, dream scenario would be
1B Larson/Hernandez/Yamin
2B Milam
SS Dickinson
3B Reaves/Yale transfer
OF Curiel
OF Stanfield
OF Brown
DH Larson/Hernandez/Yamin
C Jones/Priester/Arrambide
Rotation of Herring Anderson Cowan? Big jump there lol. Could be very good or very meh

If we are going doomsday then the only thing I would change is get a freshman bat or two in the DH spot, similar to what Tennessee did with Burke and Moore their freshmen season. We can rotate them in the lineup based on what side of the mound the starter is throwing from. Field the most competitive team this year while getting as much sec experience for 2026 as possible.

That will cause some juggling with Larson again. Maybe Larson becomes your everyday 1B and Yamin splits time at C with Frey.

Gotta figure out how to keep the core guys happy while also getting experience.

My dream scenario is

1B Jones
2B Milam
SS Dickerson
3B Henseler
OF Larson
CF Stanford
OF Brown
DH Hernandez
C Priester and Arrambide

Rotation: Herring Shores Anderson

If that happens with the pitching staff we have would be insane and an easy top 10 team in country

Maybe other teams aren't perfect? It's easy to be negative about your on team. I mean it's pretty remarkable how LSU finished the season. So I believe the coach is getting a lot of credit here. It's also a way too early prediction. Should have a much clearer picture after the draft.

I've seen it a few times now it is Stanfield not Stanford and also Daniel Dickinson not Dickerson.

Not trying to be the spelling nazi but just an FYI.

C Bear Harrison
1B Bear Jones
2B Monster Milam
SS Dickinson (if Braswell leaves)
3B Henseler

Let the rest play out as it may.

If things with the portal and draft do go doomsday, I'm hopeful the 2024 class can produce another three guys for the lineup like 23 did with Milam, Brown, and Larson. That way, going into 2026, you have a core group of guys who have some SEC innings under their belts.

That puts you in an excellent spot to supplement via the portal rather than overhaul.

No matter what scenario, you probably need to replace the starting rotation again, minus one of the freshmen showing up and being too good to keep in the pen.

Is there a reason people keep writing "Stanford" instead of "Stanfield"? Is there another portal player I'm forgetting

MLB has the following rankings

Arrambide - 115
Jones 119
Fountain 121
Herring 157
Ryan 202
Rizy 244

Now almost everyone drafted signs but teams tend to negotiate a number before they draft you because they want to sign their picks.

Fourth Round is picks 104-133. Most guys in that round signed under slot but a few signed way over. Most of the ones over slot were Hs Pitchers but not exclusively. One of the rare College So signed for like 100k over slot. But the bottom of that round we are taking 500k

there were 3 HS Carchers taken last year in the first 3 rounds. 2 in the first (pour one out for Blake Mitchell’s LSU Career) and then a kid from PR who 190k under slot. Then not another one taken till the 11th.

So I kinda like the chances of Arrambide making it to campus.

I also have no idea about Jones

Likes its been said before R handed 1B are not at a premium. 1B drafted tend to either show more contact to go along with power or some positional versatility. Or they sign way under slot.
