Because idiots are going to say Hurd should be because of his end of the year. People forget how shitty he was at the beginning. Holman is better and was more consistent the entire year.
I’ve even seceded the idea that Holman could be our Friday night guy but I’m not sure you can say he was objectively better than Hurd. Hurd was really good outside of a couple outings and he was great in the post season.

I think what people don't understand about Hurd is that he had completely remade his delivery to ensure that his back stayed healthy. He's been healthy here. He pitched early and often but they had some trial and error in there, and I think a few days of extra rest late in the season helped him too. He was really, really good from the mid point of May until the conclusion of the season.
And, I'm the one that said Holman is the Friday guy. Hurd could certainly be that guy, though.

Could Jay trot Holman out there on Friday night? Sure. Personally I like more electric stuff on Friday night if it is available. Holman was mostly around 93 mph with a good 12-6 curveball in the upper 70's from what I saw last year.
I agree with whoever said they would prefer a dialed in Hurd on Friday night if he steps up and then Holman on Saturday.
Bottom line...just get Holman on campus and it will play itself out.

I'm not arguing against Hurd. I just feel like Holman is the Friday guy, with what we know right now. Holman spent the summer with Eager, the pitching coach at Stanford, after becoming Bama's ace. 10 Ks in 5 innings against Japan is about as electric as it gets.

Agree. We also have some REALLY good left handed arms coming back!!! And coming in.
Holman is the righty we’ve been waiting on!
Gotta have him. Gonna have him.
Staff has potential to be special. Jay ain’t rebuilding he’s reloading every year.
We’re gonna compete every year for Omaha.
Next 10 years should be a hell of a ride boys

Hurd won us a Natty. It has been 14 years since we won. Pay some ducking respect

Yeah I agree with you. Like I said earlier, I think with some consistency Hurd has the best stuff on the staff. That’s just my opinion. I won’t be a douchebag and call everyone who disagrees idiots because Holman is a damn good pitcher too. If Holman starts on Fridays we are still in good shape. It just speaks to the depth of the staff is Hurd doesn’t start on Fridays which of course is a great thing

Sorry, I know it’s buried somewhere in the thread but can someone tell me where to stream the northwoods league?

I was a huge supporter of Hurd throughout the year when many wanted to just shut him down. He got treated like Christian Little at times. Believe me, I'm not a Thatcher Hurd critic.

I love how we’re just casually saying Hollmans our Saturday guy next year. Think we have confidence in our coaches recruiting?

Who’s shitting on Hurd? I definitely know he came back from an injury. Stats are stats, he wasn’t good at the beginning of the year. So cry me a fricking River. Holman was consistent the entire year. So you 19 babies that downvoted me are probably the same bitches that cried the entire second game against Florida.

That’s fair Northshore. Definitely could be a possibility that he became healthier. But it was a small sample size compared to somebody that was consistent for an entire year. But that’s what the spring and fall ball is for. The best one is will start Friday. You can’t just say Hurds going to the be the Friday guy.

A couple of outings haha. Did you watch the entire season man?
Posted on 7/21/23 at 8:03 pm to CBP3110
Actually Hollman wasn’t . His game by game stats are a few pages back genius . He was up and down like Hurd . Actually, Hurd had a longer string of great starts than hollman did

Oh shut the frick up man haha. We’re trying to multiple championships. Nothing I said disrespected Hurd. He wasn’t good early, he pitched lights out at the end of the season.
