I was watching Milam tape this morning. Man, he is tiny, but he can play. I really think he could start at 2B if he makes it to campus.
I don't see why Seo couldn't see time on the mound for LSU next year. You hear Jay talk about wanting Jordan Thompson to be a pitcher for him out of HS, and that is what Seo kind of reminds me of. Guy has a max effort type of delivery, but he has a big arm that would play well out of the bullpen i think

Yeah I’d think if he gets a 2nd/3rd round offer he’d go. Only thing keeping him here would be the desire to be a first round pick and being LSU’s ace for a year. The thing helping us is him not being able to throw before this draft starts. Scouts haven’t seen him throw since before the injury so they may be afraid to throw him early round money. Jay may also be able to work his magic so we’ll see

Yea his defensive range is limited due to shear size but he's such a fluid defender that brings something to the plate that LSU has been absent on in quite some time (switch hitter in the 1-2 hole with slightly above average speed).
The pickups of Loer and Woods have been outstanding.
There's still much more portal news that will be coming out in the next half week to week.

Grant Taylor may be Jay's biggest recruit right now.

100%. He was outperforming Skenes leading up to opening day which is insane to think about. He’d give our staff a LEGIT 1 2 punch between him and Hurd.

I’m sure that’s the pitch. Bet on yourself, you still have leverage, be a top end rotation guy and be a definite first rounder next year as a junior

Thats the worry though is does he end up like Coleman never able to fully come back in the season unless maybe we make another deep postseason run since his surgery timing was a bit before Coleman's. Coleman just never really got things going this year.

As mentioned, Milam will have a shot at competing for 2B spot if he gets to campus and Larson will have a shot at competing for an OF spot. I also think they will have a surprise freshman stand out somewhere and compete for time. Maybe someone like Derrick Mitchell or Dallas Dale in the OF or Ryan Kucherak, Dylan Thompson, or Austin Roellig in the IF.
Jake Brown will definitely be able to contribute on the mound next season and possibly MJ Seo. Anderson will be interesting to see how he continues to progress after having TJ.

The problem is he will likely not be able to give you the length to get in the starting rotation coming off TJ. Without doing that, he really won't up his draft stock vs what it will be now. He may not be able to give you any innings. We have to remember that Coleman was back extremely fast and that isn't always the timeline.
All that said, some teams will likely have the idea that he already had TJ and is getting through the rehab part now and don't have to worry about that in the near future. They will see what he was able to do last season, last summer in the Cape, and leading up to the spring and they will take a chance on him getting back to that form.

Yeah.. that’s the worry. We’ll still have Griffin Herring and the two transfers in so far to compete for a rotation spot, but Taylor is an elite talent you want on your staff in any capacity at all.

Sounds like we may not be as strapped for a transfer fielder as I thought. I know you’d rather have a proven hitter/fielder in the lineup but at some point these young guys need to get in there and build experience. I’d much rather a stud freshman play over a rental for an average graduate transfer.

Mahtook's points were that scouts had seen Taylor in action last year in the SEC and at the Cape. Then add in that he has already had his UCL repaired so that shouldn't really be an issue for him moving forward.
Selfishly, I would love to see him come back.

Adam is making it sound like we are getting more portal commits this week so there’s that. I think we for sure atleast need another MIF transfer atleast for depth

I just don't see Taylor coming back as much as I want him to for the reason you stated as well. Curious if we get the pitching coach announcement soon or if the search is still ongoing.

Selfishly still hoping for Chase Burns to get aligned, and Bama’s ace from this past year is coming for a visit too right? Holman? Names should start popping soon I’d think. Wonder if they’ve been given a name for PC that hasn’t been announced yet.

Apparently Amick from Clemson visited Tennessee yesterday.

Luke Holman, Bama's Friday night guy.

Morgan’s bonus seems small enough in that spot to consider coming back for a year with NIL. Could be the new 8

Ashton Larson
Larson turned some heads at the MLB combine last week. The question will be if a team takes a chance on him and offers him enough. I have no feel for his thought process and how much he is willing to take. Not very much out there to really make that judgement on him.
