Also sounds like they already have a plan with NIL in place and using that to an advantage for them. Not saying LSU doesn't, but they were on him soon like you said.

I'm just hoping we didn't put all our eggs in that basket and fall behind on other guys. Keaschall is looking more and more like he's going to Arizona State. Maybe we didn't want him, I guess, but if we backed off because we thought we had Ahuna, that's a mistake IMO.

I feel like JJ’s staff is preparing NIL deals to his loaded recruiting class this year. There’s a lot of guys who can go pro but, if we land a majority of our class it will set us up well for next year and beyond

Could be a possibility, which I agree would be a mistake. Also could be that they have conversations with Romero and some other incoming recruits and getting NIL in place for them and didn't want to match the (supposedly) $200K Tennessee offered Ahuna.
I'm still really not sure how all the NIL is playing in all this. Will take a year or 2 to see how it works and plays out with transfer portal/recruits coming in. I feel like it will effect transfers more like we have talked about but until we see how the next 2-3 months plays out I guess we won't know for sure.

My gut tells me this staff isn't the type to put all their eggs in one basket. They seem extremely calculated and smart when it comes to recruiting. Obviously could happen but I think they've got a plan.

Dugas doesn’t have a position because he is not good anywhere on defense
Dugas has played both 2nd and 3rd while at LSU. He has also 3 total errors in the 4 years that he's been at LSU so I'm not sure what you're talking about

I wouldn't be mad if we went crazy with pitchers in the portal and only landed 1-2 position players.

Dugas has started 112 games total at LSU
10 at 2B (none since 2020)
0 at 3B
Quick math shows he has started only 8% of his games at LSU on the infield.

He may play 2nd or 3rd next season if he returns but there’s not a lot of evidence to suggest that to be the case.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dugas tried out behind the plate and at third this summer.
He doesn't need the ABs against high level competition, we know what he's capable of there. So send him to a lower level league where he can get work on the infield and even at catcher. Get the reps over the summer and if it doesn't work, you haven't wasted that time in the fall.

So how do any of those numbers prove having him on the infield would be a disaster, in addition to proving that he is not good anywhere on defense? Both of those statements you seemed pretty confident in.

I saw Keisel follow Jay JK and Tutko all back so reading through the tea leaves I think we got a good chance

I’m expecting them to go after 4 arms and 2 position guys

Have they finished exit meetings?

Good with me. My max was 5. I think the max to land would be 5. 6 is close. Probably stretch to 6 if you're after Hurd, since he does have an injury. 3 immediate impact arms + a chance on Hurd, then at least 1 infielder (preferably middle guy) and maybe a corner infielder or outfielder if not a catcher.

Them not landing Ahuna or the kid from San Fran tells me one thing. Romero is headed to BR

That's a far leap.

Idk about the catcher thing. I'm down with 2B and 3B work. Don't think he would be able to control the running game behind the plate and it is a really hard position to learn in a summer. Like you said though, if it doesn't work then no harm done.
The other issue with this is the injury. He likely won't play at all in the summer to get healthy.

I don’t know if they finished them or not. They had them the last couple of days so I would assume they are close to finishing or finished
