You sound like he’s your cousin. TJ doesn’t matter, a 5’11 pitcher is fine and maxing out at 93 for a righty is an elite fastball. He will be a good get for Nichols

So the bigger question with this situation is what is going on at state to be losing so many people to the portal?
Beside them being a bad team and not even making the SEC tourney after winning the CWS a year prior. That can't be the only reason.

not even close, never met the kid in my life

TJ doesn’t matter
if you knew anything you would look around and see most guys are throwing harder after their 1st tj and even harder after a 2nd

a 5’11 pitcher is fine
5'11 is fine so long as they can meet the other metrics of the 90mph formula and havent maxed out potential which from the MSU guys...that wasnt the case, it was about control.

it is elite for a HS pitcher. From there they should be able to add 1-2 mph a year with proper training
you sound like a guy who doesnt know a frickign thing about strength and conditioning or velo training at all.
between getting his strength numbers up, specifically reverse lunge, deadlift and chinup and then getting his long toss up 20-25 feet they should have been able to add 2-3 mph. then you start using the med balls and training specifically for where you are weak on the strength/speed curve and improving that while also increasing the long toss another 15ft and you should gain another 1-2 mph.
from there its on the weighted balls if healthy and needed.
again I know a thing or two about this. is 93 eltie for a college pitcher from the right side, absoltely not. But its a great base to work with coming out of hs and only a year removed from TJ.
and again, you act like LSU didnt want him or he is leaving after is true freshman year because he only threw 93, he is leaving cause he couldnt throw strikes and most of MSU freshman class is leaving.

We were coming off a CWS finals appearance when he committed to State.
ok i was wrong on that, my bad. i assume he committed after soph year?

So if you agree that maxing out at 93 isn’t elite, and he couldn’t throw strikes, what are we supposed to want him for? The hope that he is one of the guys that improve coming off TJ? This is just an incredibly dumb argument

Sometime during his sophomore year. And at the time State was in the middle of 4 coaches in 4 years.

Either bad evals or bad development. They're trying to turn the whole roster over.
They picked up a pitcher from Memphis who looks pretty good. I figured he'd be in the SEC next season when I saw how he was pitching. I thought maybe Ole Miss because of proximity.
ETA: They've also pushed a bunch of kids out of the incoming signing class per a podcast I listened to the other day.

i have no idea what he is throwing now. I didnt say lsu should want him, i said I hoped he ended up at LSU.
i highly doubt he will, he will go throw at a lower level school and then if he gets it together will transfer back to a bigger school.
my point was stop acting like LSU didnt recruit him. Thye did and there is a reason he was national player of the year.

From a family friend, the previous staff did not recruit Jack hard at all. Fairly certain he was an LSU fan growing up and up until he committed to Miss State.

well they didnt really recruit many hard lol. but they did offer him but essentially said he was lucky and privalaged to be getting that offer.
but yea that was the rumor around LC
ProjectP....man i know bad evals but this is 10 guys from MSU into the portal and I think 6 from the freshman class. I know we will see alot more of this going forward but are you expecting this to be the norm? this is crazy to me.

btw where does the other Jack Walker end up? the big lefty from Indiana, think he ends up in the SEC? I know he throws hard and is huge at 6-6 but i know he walks a bunch too.

I don't think it's going to be the norm. But there are a lot of aspects to the evaluation that they could have missed on. Talent, projection, make up, etc. Those 10 may not have issues across the board, but they have at least one that the coach think make them non-competitive.

I don't think it will be the norm either. But when you win it all and then turnaround and go 9-21 in the SEC and miss the NCAA tournament, some coaches are going to clean house and try and get the train back on the tracks as soon as possible.

Looks like Cannizzaro’s recruits are gone and it’s falling apart.
People minimized the fact that he had 3 recruiting classes done in advance when he was fired. Last years team was a team he built

i hope because i really think it sucks when you start seeing teams essentially not even give guys a year or two to develop at all. i know thats the game now but jesus.
in Jacks case...that is one thing. Barbe has a strength program but when these kids come from these smaller schools and the like, they need time to develop.

Barbe puts out a lot of players, but for such a high level program, they all seem to show up to school raw and underdeveloped.

you think so? I always thought it was the opposite, show up almost maxed out or in general over ranked because its barbe.

I think it's a combination of extremely raw guys (Drost, Feduccia) or guys that are already maxed out (Jordan twins, Kennon Fontenot).
You don't have many that have come to LSU that have progressed throughout their careers. Some are too raw and can't put the tools together, while some are basically the same player for 4 years.
ETA: Not taking anything away from Barbe at all. They put out some absolute studs. Just haven't really gotten those studs to LSU.

Speaking of Barbe players….
If Gavin Guidry makes it to campus is he a P or INF?
