I guess we're gonna have to take a look at Tre at SS again.

You need to add Skenes, unless I missed it. You don't have a number 40 either.

There isn't a number 40, because we only have 4 COVID year guys.

Anyone over the 35 man limit that isn't a COVID year guy is 41 or higher.

I found a shortstop from Washington State that looked like had some promise, then found an article showing him committed to Dallas Baptist.

It’s not really even about that at this point. Skenes has said he’s not going to play catcher, which means he’s the primary DH. White and Dugas have to find a position to get their bats in the lineup. It’s really as simple as that.

Of course, this effects everything, as well. But White transferred here, and Dugas announced his return before Skenes ever committed. And those guys likely made those decisions based on certain assurances of getting a chance to play a position, and looking at our options, it seems logical that this places White at 3rd and Dugas at second, no matter if anyone likes that or not. Skenes being the DH just makes that more clear, in my opinion.

I'm just not getting why others in this thread believe something else is going to be the case, just because it doesn't sound like a very good infield defense. I don't think Dugas came back to sit the bench.

That is still 23 pitchers with Coleman and Siravo out, plus you have Guidry. I still think we will see some roster movement on the pitching side.

Brayden Caskey (Delgado/Dutchtown) looks to be solid defensively, but he committed to Arkansas State.

Delgado had a few decent infielders.

Did Josh Day end up signing? You wonder if we could have landed him had we not gone after Pineda and Young.

The tracker I’ve been following doesn’t have him signed.

Unless something changed, which is entirely possible, Day was going to sign no matter what

Project, has Alex Champagne (ASU) found a landing spot yet? I see on his twitter his announcement entering the portal, but I don't see a commitment. He would fit.

He doesn't offer much at the plate (hit .208), but he fielded .970 as a freshman (although most of that was at 2B). He came in as a SS.

I'm a little worried about the Simon rumors. MBeloso mentioned we were short on infielders and that was before the Carter Young news. We are 4 over the 35 and Jay says we are in good shape. That means 4 of those guys will not be playing in 2023. I know there have been rumors about Simon, Beloso and Hellmers. I also think Primeaux could be a freshmen redshirt candidate, just because the pitching numbers are high. That being said, I don't put a lot of faith in rumors on TD.

I could be wrong about Bollman but I don't think we need to carry a pitcher for one of our covid seniors. We have enough pitchers just in the 35.

I would not be surprised if we go after two covid senior infielders.

Let's make a serious NIL run at Jacob Wilson from Grand Canyon. If Young can change his mind, so can Wilson. Maybe losing Pineda and Young ups our NIL offer at some of these guys.
