Can’t really see any of those guys freely redshirting. Too easy to play elsewhere year 1, with nothing guaranteed year 1. Just a save-face tactic for over signing

That's fair but you gotta be real real bad to miss consecutive regionals and I just don't see that happening. They're a good program with talented guys and a coach that won a natty just 2 seasons ago.

Ledbetter was a solid add, he's having a great summer.
Amani Larry is a good add, I would've liked him at second. They just added a nice lefty in Tyler Davis. I don't know in great detail about the rest. I'm not saying I think they are the best team in the country but I don't anticipate them to be that bad again.

D1 baseball has updated Michael Fowlers new destination as LSU. Though that was interesting.

Well they were literally the worst team in the league this year, and I haven't been blown away by anything they've done in the portal, and their freshman class doesn't exactly look amazing, though I'm sure it's solid. I don't see a quick bounce back coming from them. And that's kind of been the trend with that program. They swing pretty massively from really good to really bad, a lot. Not sure why they have such a hard time with consistency, since they like to tell us that THEY changed baseball in the SEC, and not LSU.

Miss St. actually has a great class coming in...it'll be top 10 with a solid group of returning hitters.

I do agree that they haven't hit the portal as hard as they should have and the pitching rotation is still a work in progress which will be the weak link yet again even with Skenes.

This list needs to be at 35, and it doesn't include Skenes.

You can pretty much scratch Coleman and Siravo. Then what?

13. OF Josh Stevenson
14. LHP Javen Coleman
15. LHP Riley Cooper

There's probably another medical redshirt or two in there outside of Coleman and Siravo. Simon seems to be TBD still. Applebey missed quite a bit of time this past year, wonder if anything is lingering there as well.

I think we see 1 OF redshirt, dont really need 7 guys there. Ruddell or Paul basically. Frey at C is an easy redshirt as well, especially if he ends up elsewhere like he could with Neal/Jones there. I imagine this is probably Milazzo's and Travinski's last year here if they decide to go pro or end up transferring.

Simon TBD. Appleby also had some arm trouble last season.

Yes he has. He's at least thrown like a handful of inning this summer too.

Well I'm certainly not going to try to predict the future and say that they can't make the regionals. I just don't think they have enough immediate impact guys to pull them all the way from as bad as they were. But, I could be wrong. I just enjoy when they are bad.

Connor Simon stats

I kept looking for him on the roster for both the Lafayette and BR teams and I missed him.

Small sample size in a lower tier summer league, but those stats are encouraging. I hope there wasn't a set back in his recovery.

That's kind of what I meant by not amazing, but solid. I guess solid might be underselling it, but it was certainly nothing like ours, and I just don't know how many of their guys can make an immediate impact to pull them out of the hole in year one after last year's debacle. Which is where the portal could have helped them a lot.

I guess a lot depends on their returning pitchers making some big improvements.

The point is that you're almost going to have to redshirt at least a couple of guys. You're over the number without adding Skenes, infield depth, and/or however you choose to navigate the roster structure in terms of position mix in each bucket. I understand your thought is that guys will leave before redshirting, but Jay himself said he's already spoken with some guys about it. It will all play out on its own.

I understand that things are different now than even a few years ago, but TJ Friedl redshirted for Jay at Nevada and went on to sign the largest UDFA contract in the modern era, around $750k or something, maybe $400k, I don't remember.

And Kobe Kato redshirted for Jay at Arizona and was drafted last year.

It's not without precedent for guys to actually benefit from redshirting.

I think this is a good assessment. I think D.J. Primeaux also seems like a guy that could not be counted towards the 35 this season. Cooper, Ackenhausen, Herring, & Bronzini is a pretty good stable of lefties even without counting Coleman and/or Primeaux.

I see Primeaux, Ruddell, and Frey as the redshirt possibilities. Siravo, Coleman, Simon, etc. as the medical possibilities. Hellmers, Grant Fontenot, & Garrett Edwards as other possibilities not counting towards the 35 depending on the fall. I would say that group is basically your possibilities to get to 35. I don't see anyone else not counting unless it's unforeseen medical.

They'll need some immediate plug and play guys on the mound which yes their incoming class is top heavy with position guys.

Well yes it’s either cut the player or Redshirt them in a last ditch effort to get the numbers right. And asking them to redshirt is a lot less harsh, even tho the end game might be the same(player leaving).

I don’t think the players will be accepting of that as I’m sure that wasn’t the plan when committing. They could go play right away at most places. Redshirting is not really a thing at places like lsu, and even less common with the new transfer rules.

Friedl & Kato were both walk ons

I don’t know, that’s not the same to me as telling a top 300 player he has to redshirt now

I'm wondering if that's a typo. His Northwoods League profile has him listed as Tulane.

Justin Crawford got 100k over slot, $3,894,800 (vs $3,794,800).

Reyzelman signed for slot $340,700.

Romero got about $600k below slot, $2.3MM vs slot of $2,976,400.
