One thing that may make a waiver a real possibility is coaching changes. Maybe after the draft we still need an infielder and particular school out in Arizona had a coaching change too late for their players to get in the portal on time. Hmmmmm.

Posted this earlier. Jacob Wilson will be hangout with Crews and Morgan for a while this summer. He just hit the portal.

Jacob Wilson

Only 7 Ks in 246 AB? .358 average with 18 doubles, a triple, and 12 HR. I know the competition wasn’t SEC level but there obviously isn’t much swing and miss in him. I bet we could find a spot for him. .950 career fielding percentage could be improved but we that’s better than any of our infielders besides Morgan this year.

For those unaware, his dad is Jack Wilson of the Pirates.

Pretty sure his dad played with Warren Morris.

I don’t think we have room. I think we may pull 1-2 arms maybe. Maybe we don’t. I am surprised more people didn’t enter the portal. Depending on the draft Jay is gonna have some hard decisions.

They did play several ranked teams during the mid-week games, so wasn't a god awful schedule. And hell, just toss him in that left field competition as well if need be with that fielding percentage

Neal

For a guy that could just as easily leave, he's quite chummy with the rest of the team. Maybe Griffin Herring wasn't wrong after all

No way Jay would just sit on Thompson, not knowing if he’ll improve defensively and still unsure of draft status of Pineda and Young. You go get Wilson and figure it out if everybody makes it here.

Wilson can hit against any competition. He was 7 for 15 against the USA collegaite national team pitchers to lead the hitters in the 5 exhibition games.

The guy is just everywhere

But I thought the Florida fans were saying he took the money and ran and Harold wanted nothing to do with him? Weird

From Jack Wilson:

“Jacob is a Lope. He went in the portal at the deadline simply for protection if our HC left. Since he ended up leaving, Jake will wait to see how the GCU hiring goes before any decision. The overall goal is to stay at GCU”
