And in the current freshman class, we have guys that have a lot of upside, but don't necessarily need to be relied upon this year. So, if they're patient and follow the development plan, it will allow us to have the deep talent pool with a deep experience pool.
It's something Louisville was doing well with during their pinnacle. They never turned it into a championship, but I have confidence that we would.
There is something to be said for SEC experience. You're way more battle tested.

These are the ones that will have big decisions to make:
Especially the west coast guys -how willing are they to come across the country to play college ball?
Keep in mind these kids will be scouted entire sr year coming up and they missed a year of development due to COVID in most cases
Kennedy - could be a weekend starter (if set on LSU) hopefully he honors that
Jones - MLB hitter presence, could see him going pro
Kling - I'll believe it when I see it with how highly rated he is, but that's good if he chooses LSU
Toman - do believe his dad knows benefits of going to college (Tanner's long time asst at South Carolina and some head coaching stops as well)
Guidry - I think he ends up at LSU, still TBD how the scouts see him, as a SS or RHP
Neal - is highly regarded even with reclassification
Romero - seems big on college as well and Johnson has known him since 8th grade when he offered him
Snelling - is another big time prospect
Crawford - probably goes pro
Noot - is on some lists but probably has a decent shot to get to LSU
Shores - I think in the end MLB will be too enticing to pass up
Siravo - blew up in Cape and that's where a lot of scouts form opinions
Have no idea on the rest of the juco guys - they probably make it to campus
Also, the one from Canada that has already been drafted in 16th round by Blue Jays - he could be one to watch

Recruits appear to be enjoying themselves out here at the exhibition game.
I sat behind Herring and Kennedy’s parents at Friday’s scrimmage and talked with Griffin’s dad quite a bit. Both were committed to Mainieri and signed Wednesday with this class. Said most of the 22 signees are here this weekend.
They said they like the new staff. Guys were really high on Kelly and have connected well with him.
Said they wish Cain could’ve stayed here; but understood that the timing of the hire is probably what hurt that. Wasn’t an indictment on Fitz or anything, just that they really liked Cain.
Staff took them to dinner at Flemings Friday night. Had a full schedule yesterday. They had stuff planned from like 8:30 in the morning till 11 at night. Griffin’s dad was disappointed (jokingly) that they weren’t going to basketball game. Said he was looking forward to it and would’ve made the perfect weekend to catch a basketball, football, and baseball game.
Just thought y’all might like to know.

Konnor Griffin, the top 2025 player in the country, was at the scrimmage. His dad is the softball coach at Bellhaven in Mississippi. He’s being recruited by pretty much everyone. He is no hurry to commit though.

He goes to Jackson Prep, that is definitely an advantage for Hotty Toddy U.

There were at least 6-7 at the scrimmage from the 2022 class.
An unbelievable recruiting weekend for the baseball team.

Guidry, Romero, Ruddell, Bucknam, Kennedy, Moffett, Crawford were the ones I saw. There were more in some of the pictures I saw but I don't know all of their faces yet.

Griffin Herring was there as well. That's who I sat behind at Friday's scrimmage, along with Kennedy's parents.

Oh yeah, your post was great, thank you for that. I don't think I had thanked you for it yet.

DJ Primeaux will be signing with LSU tomorrow. He was one of two guys not mentioned in the official release or press conference the other day. He's another LHP and another in-state kid, for those that were bitching about those particular things.
(none of which know this thread exists and only heard about the recruiting class last week)

You hear anything about that Maryland lefty for 23?

He must have visited Vandy this weekend. He didn't commit to them, but he posted a pic of him in a Vandy uniform.

I am going to assume the recruits were in the dugout during the game. I noticed a few new faces in there, turning their heads looking at the crowd turn out. To be fair, they could have been looking for babes. lol. Either way, I could tell they were impressed by it, by the look on their faces. Jobert's sister, I believe, was quite animated cheering on Jobert on his birthday. They were turning around smiling about that as well. I can't help but think we made quite an impression.

This is by no means a dig at the previous staff, but did they used to do stuff like this? I can't remember a recruiting weekend with this many recruits coming in.
I especially don't remember them wearing jerseys like a football or basketball visit.

The jersey stuff is new, but the visits used to happen. There is just more of an emphasis on PR now. It's more visible.

Younger coach new ideas
It took PM last year to allow players to have facial hair
PM was old school and learned from his dad
Dealing with today's kids is night and day from when PM started
You couldn't pay me to coach high school kids these days and dealing with the parents and everyone else

Just having my son on a little league team and sitting in the stands was more than enough for me
