I wouldn't be surprised if Tebrakes number is close to 250k which equates to around a 7th rounder.

I'm more optimistic than y'all seem to be on Tebrake making it to campus. I have not seen him ranked on any of the draft lists I follow (he could be on the BA500, which I don't have access to). Prospects live did not have him in the top 500 prospects, which equates to a round >10.

That said, I have zero actual information on him, and it only takes one team to want to give him a shot at his number...which could be low.

Where does Tebrake fall on these lists? If not already covered.

Tebrake is not ranked on either list. His stuff plays though so that doesn't mean a team won't draft him in the top 10 rounds and give him 200-300K. That may be all he is looking for. From the sound of the interview with Moscona, he is using LSU as a backup plan if a team doesn't take him and offer what he wants. I don't think he has a really high number though. His comments about the pitching coach made it seem like it would make the decision a little harder though.

He's 382 on the BA500.

It's really going to come down to his number. He's definitely the type of arm that will draw interest. The number he's offered will tell him if he's drawing prospect interest, 2nd tier prospect interest, or org filler interest.

If they're looking at him as org filler, LSU is the better option.

ETA: Unless it's an org like the Yankees, Dodgers, or Indians that wants him. They're more progressive with their pitchers and don't really treat them like org filler, they try to get value out of everyone.

Correct. I think he has a reasonable number in mind but isn't going to take a penny less.

Something else that he mentioned, that most transfers/draft risks are also probably feeling, is the appeal of being a part of something really special. At absolute bare minimum, you play with Tommy White and Dylan Crews, 2 of the biggest names and faces in all of college baseball. At best, you're part of a super team that doesn't choke like Tennessee, further develop here, and still get your money down the line.

I think any guy that feels like they're not getting anything more than org filler type interest should stay in school.

You have the chance to increase your profile, and at the very least you guarantee another year of baseball in your life. If you can finish your degree at the same time, even better.

The money offered won't be that much different, and you can even pocket a little bit while in college now.

One thing that is going to slightly change the way things are done in the first 10 rounds is that guys that went to the combine and submitted medicals can't get offered less than 75% of slot value.

That was over 200 guys this year, if I heard the numbers right. Now, that's designed to protect the high end guys, but it also affects senior signs that were invited to the combine. If they submitted medicals, they can't get drafted in the first 10 rounds and take $5000 so that the other $200K can be given to a bonus baby. It won't affect a large population of guys, but it's going push ever so slightly towards the pick value being closer to the offer and the offer being closer to the true value. That's a good thing.

That's a new development, Project?

Definitely seems to level the playing field a bit.

It is. But it's a super small population of guys. It doesn't eliminate that practice altogether, it just takes some of those guys out of that possibility. It will just push them to the 11+ rounds where the numbers are more variable.

I expect the impact to increase over time though as the combine gets bigger.

I don't believe Tebrake went to the combine, though, did he?

I don't think he did. I don't think he necessarily fits that category anyway though.

ETA: I think UDFAs are still capped at $20K as well, which really sucks for guys that would have normally gone between rd 21 and 40 and gotten $100K.

Nah, it's all levels. Misiorowski went and lit up the radar gun, putting to rest pretty much all hope he'd make it here.

LSU had some guys there as well.

There was a list of participants, I doubt there was a list of guys who submitted medicals though.

Interesting. Then, I actually do think that matters for a guy like Tebrake, who already graduated. He has little to no leverage at this point, so a team could low ball him. If he has a great year at LSU then can go to the combine, he locks in 75% of the slot value...and probably a higher slot than he projects now.

Bryce Collins activated for the Cape League today. He joins Edwards, Taylor, Little, and Gervase as active pitchers in that league.

What's our stance on Gervase? Do we think he signs or comes back?

I just listened to the Tebrake interview on Mik'd up. Like the others in this thread that heard it, I feel like he's going pro.
