You don't hit the ball as hard as he does with all upper body. The dude is elite at letting the ball travel and using his whole body to hit balls hard and far middle to opposite field.

Little's problem is he hasn't learned how to pitch yet. The off speed is inconsistent and his fastball catches too much plate at time. The potential is absolutely there to be a real stud. Just needs to learn how to pitch and not get up there just throwing.

Agreed. Little just needs refinement.

White is a beast. He will be similar to AU's Shoney's Big Boy.

Any word on coaching candidates lately?

I was just listening to the Nick Dias guy on youtube. He mentioned a couple of things that were interesting. He said Johnson is pursuing another SS, no surprise. He said he believes Morgan will move to the outfield and
Tommy White will be playing 1B. He also mentioned that Ostrander is pretty much a done deal and that they may wait until after the draft to announce.

That would be awesome. Having JT play third in the cape makes sense if that’s the plan. Feels like that SS is Carter Young. Pineda/Young at 2B/SS, JT 3rd, and White at 1st. Then you have solved the OF

I was just talking about the ones in that video, specifically. The first two his lower half barely moves aside from his step. Little more hips rotation on the third one. I think the very first one was the most impressive, though. When your 0-2 swing where you just throw your hands results in that, good lord.

People will be pissed about the Morgan suggestion.

I just watched the first 2 min and the guy seems to not know much. Said White barely had any offers and blew up as a freshman. MLB.con had him as a top 100 draft prospect last year and perfect game had him as a top 20 player in HS. Not sure why he went to NC State, but people knew who he was.

I figured it had to be something like that. When you have 3 pitches that are all that good and you struggle, it’s usually what you said. I’d be surprised if a guy like Little with that much talent can’t figure it out, though. He’s an exciting and promising case.

Thanks for the info!

What would be the point of waiting till after the draft to announce? Seems silly

Crunched some box scores to understand Tanks by position as a freshman.

Thought he had played more 3B. Interesting

I wonder what the chances are of Tanner Hall coming with him?

Read an espn piece about him from earlier in the year. They said that he decided that he was going to accept the first offer from a team with a chance at Omaha.

NC State was that team.

Referring to youtuber Dias

I would kind of agree with that statement. Most of this board knows more about our recruiting class than he does. That being said, I don't know how good his sources are. He mostly says he is hearing things.

Johnson said he is going to worry about his roster first and then his staff. Johnson can be very tight lipped about things. Is there any strategic advantage to waiting on announcing your staff? I guess it can prevent other teams from trying to pull dirt on the new hire to negative recruit portal players. He did say what they offered Ostrander was normal money for a pitching coach at LSU, they didn't have to break the bank and SMU couldn't match it. So perhaps a contract is already done. We will find out I guess.

As for Morgan. I never bought into him playing OF last year but I could see it this year. If his MLB future is indeed in the OF then it gives him a chance to showcase and develop his skills. It also could be that our team is getting loaded with 1B, DH types. White, Leto, Beloso, Jones, Frey, Travinski. OF is sort of loaded as well, depending on what Jobert, Dugas and Kling do but I could see Morgan over Stevenson.

As for Hall or other SMU pitchers following Ostrander to LSU. I could definitely see it.

It’s USM not SMU

Yeah...that "SMU" threw me off too.

Now...I can get behind Mississippi Southern...as they used to be called that for you young guys.

I know Nick Dias. He's a good kid trying to establish himself in the streaming market. He may well get some good info here and there, but I don't think he is plugged in with Johnson.

Saying White was an unknown coming out of high school discredits him a lot

White was considered arguably the best bat in the draft class last year and a top 20 prospect overall

I would think if that is going to happen and it is the USM coach it needs to happen soon. The deadline to enter the portal and play next season is July 1 . Jay keeps saying he wants to worry about coaches after roster management. You would think if it is the guy from USM it would be announced sometime this week if he hopes to get any of their pitches if they want to leave.

He doesn’t claim to be.
