I'm thinking Kiesel, Taylor and G. Fontenot as closers.

I'm curious how many arms Johnson is targeting in the portal. I'm sure he has a number in mind. It will partly depend on how many pitchers make it through the draft.
Assuming Hasty, Fowler, Reyzelman and Gervase are gone, you still have 12 on the current roster if you include Bollman. For every portal arm that comes in, one of those 12 could be gone. Two could be gone already, just with the two portal arms we brought in. Are we willing to release pitchers like Hellmers, Edwards, Money, G. Fontenot, Dutton to keep bringing in portal players? Does loyalty to our current players factor in or do we go gladiator and the best man wins?
If we bring in potential starters or closers, I get it but I'm not too sure we should be looking at bullpen guys. It's a tough call, ultimately Johnson has to do what is best for the team. Would you tell one of your current players or signees to kick rocks for a slight upgrade? I personally don't think we should target any player that isn't a significant upgrade.
I have come to believe building through the portal is better than the HS players. I'm just thinking since we can now combine those two resources, we should become very selective with both of them.

We'll carry around 20 pitchers. I'd think the number from the portal will be 2-4. Keisel, Hurd, Skenes, Kaminska. Keisel and Hurd seem like they're close, but you have the injury issue with Hurd...so you may want to get a 3rd starter type arm to go with Hurd and Tebrake. Skenes would be ideal but you can branch out to Kaminska or another experienced length guy if he's not in.
Floyd
Collins
Lansville
Cooper
G Fontenot
Money
Dutton
Coleman
Taylor
Tebrake
Little
Herring
Primeaux
Moffett
Bucknam
Bronzini
Siravo
Appelbey
Ackenhausen
That's 19.

Players generally won’t stick around if they won’t play or have the role they want.

I'm thinking along the same lines. That is leaving Bollman, Edwards and Hellmers off the list. If we bring in Hurd, Kiesel and Kaminska, three more could be gone.
I wouldn't want to guess at you those three would be.
There might be some redshirts and we could keep 20, some variables left. I'm just thinking if we get Skenes and Guidry who can pitch and Simon can as well, 19 might be the number.

Nap did mention a possible transfer from a pitcher not yet in the portal.

Good point. Somebody like Money or Dutton who Johnson would like to keep, decides life would be better somewhere else.

I hope Griffin Herring makes it to LSU out of the commits! He's a beast.

I'm just suggesting we don't go on a shopping frenzy just because we can. We need to slow down and be very selective. Whoever the 19 or 20 pitchers, plus redshirts, that make this team in 2023 will be very good pitchers. We just need to make sure we have some studs on top of that list. Whoever wins the battle for the top portal pitchers will be the real winners in this portal free agency. This is where our NIL money needs to go.

Besides the top 5, Snelling, Noot, Shores, Misiorowski and Kennedy the second tier leaves a lot to love. We can lose all five of those guys to the draft and still be really excited.

You definitely can not miss with portal pitchers because you are letting go others who have already pitched for LSU. I see Hellmers and Edwards being the first two then it would be Money and Dutton next to go most likely. I feel for Jay having to make those decisions.

That kind of zeal is shared by many LSU faithful. It makes me proud of our fanbase. I would skip my daughters wedding to go see LSU win a Natty. She can find someone else to walk her.

No clue what it means but Leah vann just tweeted a cryptic tweet and liked my reply when I asked if something is happening.
Maybe some more news about to drop?
