That's the dilemma. Personally, I think he probably did that with Berry last year. It started off really rough, but Berry improved throughout the year tremendously IMO. I get why it might happen, I'm just don't like it because of what we watched last year defensively.

I think Jay knows what he is doing. If White wants to come to LSU I am sure Jay told him he will have every opportunity to get playing time at 3rd. Dugas and him could both rep there in the fall and when the season starts you stick Dugas in left field and see how it goes. White may be serviceable there anyway. His bat alone says to me he gets first dibs. Also its not a lock Dugas returns. He would be too good to pass up IMO.

100% agree. Just not at 3rd imo if it means promising White 3rd. Unless he shits the bed in a bad way

But nobody we “promised” a spot to really shite the bed. Yeah Berry didn’t look good in the OF, but he settled in at 3B pretty good every day. If you improve your defense up the middle by 50% then I think you absolutely trade offense for defense at third to get a guy like Tanks on your roster. I guess I just don’t see Dugas having the capability to be that guy defensively. Dugas is a really good hitter, but he’s not quite what Tanks will give you

I think he knows what he is doing too. I'm fine with giving him a shot. Hell, I hope he becomes the best 3rd baseman in LSU history.
