Project, do you know if LSU is recruiting any other players at Delgado besides Jobert? Are there any players in MS Jucos that they're looking at?

No one from else Delgado that I’m aware of. I’ll have to look again to see if there is anyone in the Mississippi jucos.

I only found one player at a Mississppi JUCO that we were looking at, but I don't know how seriously we were looking at him. He's committed to Charleston Southern now because his brother coaches there.

On a summer baseball note, Cade Doughty will play for Falmouth in the Cape Cod league this summer.

It feels doubtful, but I really hope we can keep some of that talent at the top of our class this upcoming year...

maybe 2/5 would be a big win...between Selvidge, Moller, Lansville, Kudrna, and Leto? I'm hoping one is Selvidge but I think that's a pipe dream...

I would add Carter Jensen to that list and hope we get 3/6.

Kudrna has such helium it's hard to feel good about getting him to campus. My complete speculation is that Moller signs pro. I kind of feel good about Leto because I think he will want to get to campus and prove something. I could realistically see us getting anywhere from 0/6 to 4/6.

I saw a recent draft ranking list (high school and college combined) where Moller(65), Selvidge(73), Leto, Jensen, and Kudrna were all listed in the top 150.

Summer Ball Assignment:

Brayden Jobert will be playing in the Appalachian League. First LSU player/commit to go there.

So two of LSU's JUCO commits will be their first players in the two new MLB associated leagues this summer.

Shockingly I am Just now getting into baseball recruiting so I am going to have some presumptively dumb questions.

1.) I just subscribed to perfect game for $30 a month to actually view LSU’s class/prospects (which is a no lube shaft IMO) but whatever I’m in now and seems like they are the best (ala 24/7 in football) right?

2.) I see we have 2 elite catchers committed in Moller and Jenson. I’m going to assume Moller’s chance of making it to campus is zero? But I saw in Jenson’s bio it says he’s signed with LSU. Does that mean he’s in and not a draft risk? I remember Cairo the SS getting his class schedule and then signing with the Indians so I assume it’s not the same as football or am I mistaken on him actually signing?

3.) if there’s anything else y’all think I need to know as it relates to baseball recruiting basics please tell me bc all I know is if they come to campus we get them for 3 years (unless they’re a draft eligible sophomore age wise.) I know everything there is to know about football/basketball recruiting rules but complete noob to baseball and there is far less info out there readily available. My biggest is the signing risk threshold/when do we actually know if they’re 100% in or not.

4.) in yalls opinion of the current ‘21 commits who’s probably not making it to campus outside of a miracle similar to Crews? Looks like Floyd and Thompson were similarly ranked to some guys we have committed now and they still made it...

The only part of your questions I can answer is this: even if a player signs with a school, he can still be drafted by the MLB unless he pulls his name from the draft like Crews did last year. I think the draft was moved back to July this year (instead of June) but I'm not sure if it's already set at 10 or 20 rounds. It was 40 rounds in 2019 and reduced to 5 rounds (I think), in 2020 due to covid and contraction of minor league teams. I'll leave the rest of your questions to the experts here.

Future LSU C commit Ethan Frey is apparently a rising QB prospect 6'5 220
Will be attending football camps this summer so may start to get some football interest
Will still likely be drafted in baseball out of high school

The two comments before your comment answer questions 2 and 4.

One thing I like about baseball recruiting is it doesn't have all the drama until the draft gets here. ELite players commit early and don't make videos and tweets, don't get signing bonuses from the barber and don't tend to flip schools.

That’s a pretty accurate assessment. Nothing is really done publicly, but there is just a ton of stuff that is basically negotiated behind closed doors that is impossible to know, which makes it even harder to follow. Ex. Would be if LSU and Ole Miss are going after the school, it might come down to who can offer more in their scholarship. You also have recruits negotiating with pro teams before the draft so both sides can know if they are willing to sign.

Project, I know it's early but which infielders and outfielders do you see having a chance to start as freshman? Assuming they get to campus.

If Moller or Jensen stays I would assume they could take one of Milazzo or Tranvinski spot

Those are two top notch catchers. We will be lucky get one of them on campus. I think they are more known for their offense than defense. It will be interesting to see the catcher battle if one of them make it.

The infield is going to be packed with returning starters. I don't see any freshmen breaking in to a starting role on the infield unless someone transfers out in the offseason.

I could see Stevenson potentially starting in CF.

If both our current catchers are on the roster next season, any freshman coming in would rotate at most. Both have question marks. Jensen would probably get PT quicker at DH than behind the plate, if he makes it to campus.

I wasn't thinking about him for a couple reasons. I always assumed he'd be drafted this year and go, and with the injury he's kind of "out of sight, out of mind".

I don't have a good answer for you now that I think about him. Hopefully he gets healthy soon. And if he gets healthy and shows out well enough to get wa pretty good ould mean he had a very good season while healthy.
