re: LSU Baseball 2021 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread - OLD THREAD

off and on. They talked about Hill, but my feed was choppy. They talked about Moller a bit and have him in their top 30, which surprised me. Not that he's not worthy, but I had just read Keith Law's list and in his comments below he was pretty dismissive of Moller as a top prospect. (he's not in Law's top 100)
I'm telling you, the information is so varied amongst the sites right now, and that's just a reflection of what teams are saying. It's crazy.

Good article on recruit Leto - sounds promising LSU may get him to campus. Would be a nice pickup for sure.

That's awesome. Thank you for the link. I've been checking the Northwoods rosters, I don't know when they added him but I must have missed it. Northwoods typically doesn't have incoming freshmen in it, so that's kind of a big deal. It's a good league.
He will be able to play for about a month before the draft happens. Maybe more. It could be a blessing or a curse that he plays there.

Project, expect several changes coming to summer league assignments.

You have any more info than that? Not being flippant. The beat writers don't ask any roster questions, the internal stuff on LSUsports.net hasn't really addressed summer ball in a meaningful way in several years, and it's tedious and time consuming to comb through rosters (though I don't hate doing it).

I haven’t been able to confirm everything yet. I’m hearing the Cape is requiring the vaccine and players are opting out of it. Hearing the LSU guys will go to Florida instead

Oh damn. I'd have to think that LSU won't be the only school that has players do that.

The Cape isn’t the only league requiring it. It will be interesting to see if these leagues soften their stance on it. I can tell you players and coaches are scrambling this week to find teams

This'll be an interesting thing to watch from a sports and social perspective.
Hoping sports wins.

One change I've already found is that Cranford isn't on the Martha's Vineyard roster anymore.
I hope the Northwoods league goes back to using pointstreak, their rosters are a pain in the arse to go through.

Saw a comment on FB yesterday by Moller's father...his words exactly were, "My son is going there next year." Boy I hope he's right!

Wait where did you see that

Brady Neal is now in the 2022 class instead of 2023. I will update the thread accordingly.

A comment on the LSU Baseball Facebook page. Specifically, he was commenting on some of the negativity surrounding the fan base right now, but he did say that Ian is coming to LSU. Take it fwiw.

More summer assignment news:
Ty Floyd and Michael Fowler have been added to the Appy League along with Brayden Jobert. No team designations for that league yet. The league opens play soon, but everyone assigned there will still be playing when it kicks off.

Hey Project I think Jobert is going to rake it next year. What position will he compete for at LSU?
Posted on 5/18/21 at 8:22 am to LesnarF5
He's a 1B/DH. Potentially could play 3rd. Possibly a corner OF spot.
But he won't play over Morgan, Doughty, or Crews. I guess possibly LF where he would compete with Drost, but both at LHH. I think it will be tough for him to get regular ABs.
He was signed probably to slide in and take over for Beloso, but Beloso isn't playing first anymore and isn't hitting enough to get drafted.

At the beginning of the year I thought there would be serious consideration for both DiGiacomo, Beloso, and Milazzo to leave after solid years but there's a great chance all are back (if they want to).

Will Dugas be back?
I go back and forth on that. He's still a high strikeout guy and those types don't have a long life span in pro ball. Also, moving off the infield probably diminished his value (though I still think he can play 2nd).
I think he's still got a lot of untapped potential. He could benefit from going to MLB Draft League this summer whether he intends to come back or he intends to sign. He's missed out on some quality development time for various reasons.
