Anyone know if Marcus Mott signed in the early period
Posted on 12/4/19 at 3:42 pm to LSUJockStrap
I haven't seen an actual picture like you see from a lot of the ceremonies. So, I can't confirm that he did, but there is also no indication that he didn't.

He's going to sign with someone else. Apparently it was mutual between him and LSU.

I’ll take him off the list next week. I hadn’t seen any news about that.
ETA: I was just went ahead and took him off the list

Big news from the MLB winter meetings last night. The draft will now be held in Omaha on the Wed-Fri between the Supers and the CWS.
This is good for the players participating, and will make it a more TV friendly event.

Abendroth no longer on 20 roster
Down to 34
Guess he could add the LHP walk on that was seeing time in the scrimmages or leave the spot open

Oh damn, thanks for the update. I had been checking every day to see if there was any movement on the roster.
JUCO practice starts on Friday, so rosters are starting to be posted on a lot of their websites. I've been finding a ton of guys from SEC schools popping up on JUCO rosters for the spring.
While this thread is already bumped, Alex Milazzo and Mitchell Sanford are expected to play for the Charlottesville Tom Sox in the Valley League this summer.
ETA: I wouldn't be surprised if we add a few more JUCO pitchers to this class.

got an idea of any particular pitchers we may look at?
Posted on 1/13/20 at 8:19 am to epicpoe
There is a JUCO lefty in Florida and a JUCO righty in Texas. There is also a high school righty in Texas that we're looking at as well. Adam Tulloch, Drew Shifflet, and Will Carsten, respectively. I don't know the likelihood that we sign any of those 3 specifically, but we are looking at them.

The 2019 class is looking pretty weak on pitching. Perhaps it is hard to convince a pitcher to come here when the team is loaded right now. Let's hope 2020 brings in some serious pitchers.

I think that played into it a bit. We lost 2 highly touted guys to the draft when we already didn't have a huge class of pitchers. Then after the draft two more highly touted guys decided to go to JUCO, Phillips definitely for draft reasons and probably Wilhite as well.
Kind of weird that the class ended up that way, but we were in a unique position to sustain those losses based on how many guys we got to campus last year, that can contribute.

The Advocate reported Abendroth was apparently suspended for entire season and he left to go JUCO route at Hinds CC Miss
Lags LHP walk on that was trying to make team in the fall may get spot #35

Recruiting news is slow right now, but JUCO season starts tomorrow (at least in the states that they can start, weather-wise). Beck Way is our only JUCO pitcher, and I will try to keep his stats updated here. They don't start until the 31st.
I will probably give updates on former commits and players as well, for no real reason than I'm looking it up anyway, so I might as well share.

And as soon as I say recruiting news is slow, LSU picks up a big 2023 commit in Steven Milam from New Mexico. He's a middle infielder. He's played in national all star games and for Team USA for his age group. This is a big time pick up.

What happened to all the freshmen pitchers we had committed for this class? Look like we only have three new pitchers that are freshmen.

We only have one freshman pitcher. We lost a couple to the draft, a couple to juco for draft reasons, and one transferred out because he was suspended for the year.
But we brought so many in last year that it’s not an issue.

Thanks. I’ve missed something in that we have 15 pitchers on the roster when we normally carry 18 and sometimes 20. It appears our recruiting numbers didn’t work out. I’ve kept a score book for several years and don’t remember this few pitchers. I hope everyone stays healthy.

Is Kendall Burnett going to be on the Baseball Roster this year?
Posted on 1/29/20 at 2:04 pm to tomcat4
Kendall Burnett will not be on the roster this spring. He was on the roster in the fall but was removed sometime during or after fall practice.
15 is the fewest I can remember in some time. The smallest number of pitchers we've had get innings in the season is 13 in 2014. But usually not every pitcher on the roster gets innings, for one reason or another.
2008 saw 14 pitchers throw. 15 would be the lowest number under Dunn, if I'm not mistaken. (I don't remember exactly which year he got here.)
