Sounds like that's becoming less and less likely

Based on his performance, you could say that. I still have confidence though. He's a unique baseball recruit that actually switched commitments. He was previously committed to Mississippi St and switched to LSU.
Now, a lot can and has changed since then, but that's not normally something a kid does when their sole focus is getting to the minors as quickly as possible. It doesn't mean he's definitely coming to LSU, but it moves the needle in that direction.
Contrast that with Nonie Williams from last recruiting class that was a home school kid that reclassified from the 2017 class to the 2016 class. That's primarily a draft move, kid was never going to college.

No one told me this, but I think Jacob making it to LSU would go a long way with Slade. They've played together since they were 8, really close friends.

I would definitely like to see that happen.
And as I've said previously, I'd like to see Bolden get a baseball opportunity if he comes here for football.

Looks like it. Certainly didn't expect them to be doing this well in baseball with the move to the Catholic league

Quick update on JC Pitcher and top 5 round draft prospect Nate Pearson:
12 starts, 5-2 on the season (his team is terrible though, so don't go simply by his win/loss record). His ERA is 1.66. He's got 109 Ks in 76 innings pitched. He's given up 54 hits and walked 21, so he's got WHIP just a hair under 1.
It's not going to be easy to get him to campus. He's been clocked in the triple digits and he's now got performance to back it up.
If he does get to campus, he won't follow in the line of high velocity JUCO recruits relegated to the bullpen. He'll be in the weekend rotation.

How has a kid thrown 76 innings already? Our best guy throwing every opportunity on 4 days rest has only thrown 56

His season started on January 27th. The way their schedule has worked, he's probably pitched on 56 days rest a few times instead of once a week. I know he was starting on Fridays, then had some Wednesday starts.
They start much earlier than D1 so the season wraps up by the time the semester is over.

Article about Pearson, LSU will have a hard time keeping him in the class if he's clocking 100
Yeah, that showcase where he hit 100 was the weekend before he committed to LSU. Now he's showing that he's got command of it, as well as secondary stuff, and can go deep in games.

According to his dad on Twitter, Cam Sanders officially signed his LOI with LSU today. Sanders is a JUCO righty from Northwest Florida St. Originally from ED White in Thibodaux.

Pearson hit another homerun earlier.

RHP Landon Marceaux of Destrehan threw 9 innings striking out 17 against HHS. Struck out 11 of last 12 batters. Looked sharper as game went on.

There may be another commit based on nolan cain's twitter. Still trying to find more info.
Last night I finally fond out who the other commit from 4/5 was, in addition to Rece Hinds.
JUCO LHP from Chandler-Gilbert CC Taylor Petersen committed to LSU. He's our 5th JUCO commit in this class, joining Nate Pearson, Hunter Feduccia, Andrew Bechtold, and Cam Sanders.
ETA: In the 2017 season, Petersen has a 1.48 ERA in 18 relief appearances. He's striking out 44% of the batters he faces. He has 1.03 WHIP.

Another "Box Bound" tweet from Nolan Cain earlier tonight. Means we got another commitment. I'll start looking to see what I can find out.
ETA: Looks like it's 2018 Barbe shortstop Bryan Lawrence. I will add his info to the second post in the thread when I find a PG or PBR profile for him. I wonder if there is any relation to former Major Leaguer and LSU football walk-on Joe Lawrence, also from Barbe?
