LSU baseball picked up another commitment today, still trying to find out who. The Advocate's Luke Johnson retweeted a "#BoxBound" from Nolan Cain, which is apparently the baseball version of Purple Reign or Hold That Tiger.

LSU picked up another JUCO commitment from former Maryland Terrapin Andrew Bechtold, currently at Chipola. Played primarily 3rd at Maryland, but can play all over the infield.

Interesting that we offered him before he even played for Chipola, but the dude was .218/.333/.248 last season at UM and had 14 errors at third.
Hopefully Chipola works some things out for him this year.

According to PBR, Miguel Reyes is "back on the open market". Haven't heard any announcement on this but maybe its because he didn't sign a NLOI??

He didn't sign an LOI. This news isn't surprising as it has been rumored for some time. Now that it's official I will take him off the list. Thanks for the headsup.
I think the expected loss of him from this class as well as the unexpected loss of Tanner Allen who signed with Mississippi St may have played into the decision to offer JUCO INF Andrew Bechtold.

Also, the signing deadline for the MLB draft has been moved up. It's now the first Friday after the 4th of July holiday. This year that will be on July 7th.

Today is the start of the JUCO season (though not all JUCOs are starting today). All 4 JUCO teams that have LSU commits will be in action this weekend though, so we'll have some early stats to look at by Monday.

I think he's going to get the start for northwest Florida state tomorrow. He may be pitching today though. The coach said not to expect any of their starters to go more than 3 innings, so don't be alarmed if he doesn't go longer than that.
Nate pearson threw 5 yesterday. Gave up 2 hrs but struck out 6 or 7. Andrew bechtold hit 2 hrs. And hunter feduccia went 1 for 3 with 2 walks. Overall good start for our juco commits.
