Hope something does come out as that was a potential big bat in this class, the kid was committed for over 2 years.

My guess would be he did not expect Watson and Duplantis to return and it could have been a playing time issue.

I could see it.

Although he could have easily slid to DH next year and then played anywhere the year after.

I think it's more likely that when asked by the staff what it would take to sign him, or what his intentions were, those answers did not line up with what they were told be scouts, agents, and summer coaches they fact checked with.

nola.com had a good article about how the recruiting class was built and they really emphasized the part about gathering information from all sources to really get a feel on a kid. I doubt that emphasis just came out of nowhere.

I read that, but if he intended to sign then changed his mind you would think they make room. 4 tool outfielders straight out of hs aren’t common and you always make room for talent. Maybe he changed his mind about lsu too, who knows

At least it seems like Fla State and not Fla.

It had to be. When the draft was over it was complete silence in regards to him. I know he has FSU '22 on his twitter but the entire thing just seems odd.

I think also what may have happened is he didn't commit to joining the team in summer classes and may have told the coaches he wanted to wait and see what happened this summer.

There may have also been word that he was interested in JUCO if he didn't sign.

It may not have been Mainieri's finest move but he has to trim some roster spots and he can spend time looking for spots to fill post draft (ala AJ Labas last summer).

I think after the signing deadline is over Mainieri will talk more on the subject.

I just found an article from the OC Register (not a small paper) that lists Erik Tolman as an LSU signee.

LINK

Still wondering if he should be put on the list. I'm leaning towards including him in the count of players, but I'm still looking for more verification.

Erik Tolman is listed as an Arizona State commit on perfect game. I am fairly confident that is new.

That is new. He was listed as uncommitted on there yesterday.

Removed LSU from social media too. That’s good enough confirmation

I hope we can snatch a good MIF once Turang signs

We won't be adding anymore position players in this class unless something unforseen happens. We already have MIF coming in.

That his spot on the roster is taken by Turang

If Bryce Jordan does not play and Turang signs, they definitely need another position player.

For what position?

I think Smith and Hughes is our only SS. Dugas maybe, but that’s about it and with the uncertainty of smith and his back and Hughes swinging a runner hose at the plate I’d say that’s a small need. Unless they have some decent SS they know they will get next year

I went to a couple of the Danville Dans games recently and got to see Bianco and Dugas in person. Both looked pretty good. Dugas hit a sac fly to the warning track and later doubled. Drew only had a single but made solid contact every AB. Both looked like really good prospects.

Dugas will be in the lineup without a doubt. I think he’s more of a 2b/3B than a SS tho. In fact, his only errors in the summer league cane at short and he hasn’t played there much

I wanted to go see them when they were in Hannibal, but I may have missed my chance. Next year I'll have a couple of options with Cape Girardeau joining the league.

It would leave us with only 16 position players by my count, and one of those is Braden Doughty.

I think they will try and bring in a 17th position player unless Bryce decides to play.

I still do not understand encouraging Slaughter to sign. He could have played 3B or 1B on this club next year.
