LSU average star rating of .9326 without punterPosted by Jugular Joe on 12/27/20 at 11:54 am

That's the exact same number as our record breaking average from 2020.
That includes Jones.
We would need to get Leigh to have any shot at breaking our record.
Ohio State. .9520
Alabama.... .9462
Clemson.... .9373
Georgia...... .9352
LSU............ .9326
Oklahoma.. .9320
Leigh bumps us to .9356.

No reason for Texas not to be up there...
They should be getting antsy with Herman

The punter is a stud, though. 5 stars for changing field position.

Ohio St. is 95.20 without their punter.

The trend is the disparity between the big 5 and everyone else is widening.
It used to be 91-93 range for the elite.
Now it's 93-95.

I get why you did this and agree, but this guy might be one of our best and most impactful recruits

He's a serious weapon. Talking NFL level punter for flipping field. And he's a beast LB so he will be like Atkins back there making hits (if god forbid a play gets to that). Will help with occasional fakes too.

I cannot find the punter's name that was either in the 02 or 07 season that was a designated pooch punter.
02 had donnie jones
07 had pat fisher
eta.
found it....it was not either of those years.
It was 97/98 Chad Kessler (a doctor in charlotte, now) and Jeremy Whitten.
Whitten was the pooch punter and he was GOOD.
It allowed Kessler to be the first ever to average 50 yds.

Talent doesn't mean EVERYTHING. But it definitely doesn't mean nothing (while we converse on on a message board dedicated to recruiting)
There's a reason Bama, Clemson and Ohio State make the playoffs 80% of the time. And it's not because they have a better workout regimen. It's because they start with the best players.

Exactly

And there are folks that really dont understand this. The big 3 have AND develop super high level offensive lines every damn year. The hard part is trying to get the #1 guard, #1 tackle and #1 center in the country to NOT go to Alabama....at the same time lol.
How bout that stat?
