Facts don’t lie. LSU had no depth to give the starters a break or a few series off.
DE -
1. Gaye - Sr : 13 games
2. Jones - So : 13 games
3. None
NT -
1. Roy - Jr : 13 games
2. Guillory - RS So : 13 games
3. None
DT:
1. Smith - So : 1 game (Injury)
2. Wingo - So : 13
3. Hill - FR : 2 games
4. Wiggins - FR : 4 games (injury)
Jack-
1. Olujari - Sr : 11 games
2. Jones - RS JR : 13 games
3. None
10 players on DL to start the season.
2 injured , done for season and only played 5 combined games.
Hill was a FR who played in 2 games that were blow outs (UAB , Southern)
7 players rotated to play all 852 snaps on defense
3 are done and will enter the draft
2 others are draft eligible
?? Will enter transfer portal
That leaves 5 returning DL with significant game experience for 2023.
0 DL commits so far for 2023
Roy and Guillory are crucial DL that need to play 1 more year and increase their draft stock.
Portal appears the only way to build significant depth for 2023
UGA and Alabama were subbing 4 DL at a time who were just as good at filling run gaps and harassing Daniels. The trenches and depth are why LSU won previous NC’s

Yeah the real worry is 2024. If we lose Wingo, Smith, Ojulari, Roy, and Guillory. That’s rough.

I said it earlier and I will continue to preach it because the A&M game showed it. We need the beef!

Trust the process and trust the alignment

We need more depth for a better rotation
Good thing is we get Smith back and Wiggins coming off redshirt
We need UGA type depth

What happens in the bowl game if BJ, Roy, and Gaye all opt out?
Who plays besides Wingo, Guillory, and S.Jones?

You're forgetting Langston, though I would expect him to be in the portal soon.
Kelly will address defensive line depth. They won't be caught short.

There is a lot of time between now and then

We have got to figure out a way to get Smith and Wingo on the field at the same time

Dashawn Womack can play DE or Jack …and he could be next years Will Campbell

Yep. The 2011 defense was so good up front. LSU had 8 deep rotating in.

If Guillory is the one nose tackle we can find …then should we even run a nose ….that’s an extremely important position ( I’m just saying)

You're forgetting Langston
as a RS FR, he only played in 2 games this year. Is he not ready yet ? Was he injured ? Mind boggling how some of these 4-star kids don't see the field more often, even in mop up duty. You need playing time and real game experience to develop. I hope he stays since you would think he should get lots of snaps next year. Maybe he will play in the bowl game since he's already RS'd from last year.

Who plays besides Wingo Guillory and Jones

They are more than likely working the back channels for a DT in the transfer portal. TAMU needs to come off of one of theirs.

That's great but playing him every snap is exactly what we got with BJ this year. Just absolutely tired and worn out. We need depth and rotation
